I know, I'm starting to feel very old.

@Fate - I don't have a problem with people listening to music with bad lyrics. Hell, I do. (Not *that*bad.) But blaring it out the window in a neighborhood filled with little kids? Terrible.

I know. I don't like to have my radio on at blaring volumes at all. I don't know how some people can take it.

Then everyone wonders why hearing loss is so abundant at later ages...:devious:

Be happy. I also live in (what I think is) a nice neighborhood, but I here that kind of thing on a daily basis. I read an article about that some time ago and one of the possible explanations that was given was that some of these people feel the need to prove that they have good taste in music. Sounds kinda wonky, but remember the kind of people we're dealing with here...

With certain genres of music...that, my dear friend, is a vague concept. What's good taste for someone is bad for another.

Hence the eternal Rock vs Rap war...

Sigh...so lame...and to think I keep getting dragged into it lol! :)

It's not that they need to prove they have good tastes in music. It's because they need the attention.

Rock v. Rap? That's not a war; that's not even a contest.

Do I come across as a rap person Fate?

Give you a hint, for the last thirty minutes I've been listening to: Modest Mouse, Metric, The Donnas, Garbage, Yellowcard, Iron Butterfly(!!!), and System of a Down.

Judging from your avatar, you seem more like a Metal kind of guy.

@Omega: No. I was just poking some fun at you...as usual. ;)

@Vlad976: It's not that I hate rap. I dislike it. Does rap as a genre even exist anymore? I was under the impression that hip-hop was "where's it's at" if you like rap music nowadays...

And, in any case, over here in Puerto Rico, the situation is reversed, thanks to the (I don't know why in blazes people think this is a type of rap :disagree:) reggaeton genre of music. Made here in Puerto Rico. Sigh...99.9% of the songs are full of sexual innuendo. I like such songs as much as the next guy...but it gets boring after the...oh...800th song?!

P.S: That genre has NOTHING to do with reggae. Common misconception. :)

To the uninformed listener, they do sound very similar.

I do somewhat. Took 5 years of it between middle school and high school. My level of verb tense mastery is suspect at best, and vocabulary requires some trips to the dictionary. So when it comes to listening to music that's completely in Spanish, I'm only able to catch a few words here and there.
So I guess in short, the answer is yes.
