Sans the campaigns, WOG is really fun. Eliminates the cd check, which is great ,and it adds an incredible amount of content. The commanders and revamped skills really add some new life to the game.

As to Equilibrius, I don't know. I haven't used it in a really long time. Maybe I'll reinstall it when I get my copy of Heroes 3/4 Compete in the mail.

stefan.urlus wrote:on the topic of WoG and Equilibris .... should I bother to get them ... especially in regards to HIV and equilibris, cause I'm about to get my copy back and while I will patch the sucker up I was wondering what people actually think of the mod
You mean you haven't tried them yet??!!?? Then I would say a huge, resounding YES! I would highly recommend both, especially Equilibris.

Equilibrius is nice for making Ogre Mages a viable unit.

does it break anything that you're aware of? can you switch it off if you're not happy with the features or manage what you want?

and anyone who can chime in on equilibris would be appreciated as well

and I know there is a subforum for these things but not finding what I really need to know there

Tried a WoG campaign once... consisted of running around with one pikeman. If I want to play an RPG I have better ones ;|

This is the random thoughts thread. There is no off-topic. As far as the rankings go, have you checked out the List of Round Table Rankings?

On the note of the WoG, try Cave of Gerfrex, the only bundled maps - and one of the best. Really must recommend. (Although you will need to know how reveal diggable terrain before you will step on.)

It gets better. Eventually you get a Groynarch who won't fight and a Nightmare. Too bad by the time you get the nightmare, you don't have time for fighting. But when the rushing around stops, you are free to recruit 6 Marksman, 2 Champions, 4 Crusaders, 2 Zealorts, and a whopping 5 Halbreders to fight your battles. It may look small, but at least you can recruit peasants!!!! Fear the legions of peasants.

Yeah I never liked the HoMM-maps that try to make the games into an RPG. Of course there is a natural touch of RPG in the games, more so in H4 than the others, but to me that's just one smaller part, the fighting is to be done mainly by armies of creatures.

I have never been particularly keen on those maps, but lately I've been more into taking on fights and really trying to minimise losses (used to be more of a bury the opposition slow player, but trying to improve the skills, I'm hoping that when my copy of HIV wings it's way home that I can try and continue that
