Been to the gym for the first time... ever? Something like that. It's such a dull form of exercise, but around here outdoors training isn't really on most of the year so I guess I'll have to get used to doing it a few times a week.

@Panda: Yes. Thank you! :D

Hey E, I know just what you mean. I've dragged my lazy behind to the gym some 20 times now...since january :P I'd rather go for a bike ride but the weather here isn't always good enough for that either.

I need to get back to the gym. I went 5 days a week for over 2 years. Then I had car trouble and got sick. I got out of the habit. I NEED to go back! I enjoy being there and doing the work, I just don't enjoy the actual getting up, dressed and out of the house to do my workout before I go to work. I like piddling around on the computer.

Jerry Springer is the host of the world's tackiest talk show.

http://www.jerryspringertv.com/

Jerry only books weirdos who hate each other. It's usually some sexual deviant who stole someone else's lover (or farm animal). Every single show is guaranteed to have at least three fights break out on stage. Anyone wearing a false hair piece WILL have it torn off their head, every single time. Shoes are always removed and often thrown. False teeth are frequently 'put somewhere safe' - other than the mouth of the owner. Whenever the guests get into a really rousing fight, or some hot chick starts taking her clothes off (yes, that happens almost every day) the audience starts yelling "Jerry! Jerry!"

The "POP" container in the picture is Popcorn. The traditional food to eat when watching a show, normally sold in containers large enough to feed multiple people. Therefore "Pass the Popcorn" is a slang term meaning "Let's sit back and watch the show." Chanting "Jerry! Jerry!" would indicate that it will probably be violent, sleazy and/or kinky.

Bravo.

Nice to hear someone is accomplishing something. I've just been mucking out the basement at home, cleaning out all the back rooms at work, got my molar crowned to the tune of $850.

Yeah, my dentist is very expensive. But he's SO worth it! He gasses me to another planet and pumps enough Novocaine into my jaw to stun a horse. Kind of sore now that I can feel it again... but I'll live.

Using a Mac right now. We've started using MacBook Pros at work. I haven't used a Mac since ... what.. 1987 or thereabouts. God, it's a transition. I mean, the thing doesn't even have a page down-button, WTF?

It's not your fault, really. You can't help that you're not smart enough to know you didn't need one. You should thank The Steve that you've now learned this lesson before it's too late. :-D

I know your name isn't Jerry... Did you have a "walk on the wildside" experience? :D Or did she throw a chair?

Oh My! I didn't know that about you Lil' Bro... we should talk more often... in detail...

oh, sorry, I digress.

Just FYI - I started back at the gym yesterday. Went back today, even though it hurt. Trying to get back in the habit. I'm rather ticked off at myself for being so wimpy and hurting so badly after moving less than HALF the weight I used to do.

But then, when I was training with the really heavy stuff, I was constantly nursing blown out joints and pulled muscles. That was one of the reasons that I quit. I was hurting myself but not getting into better shape. I was frustrated by the fact that no matter how much harder I worked, my size wasn't changing.

Then I got addicted to World of Warcraft, went into a hormonal hell of a roller coaster ride and didn't FEEL like getting out of the house. Of course, the fact that I stopped working out probably made my hormonal imbalance - and there for the monstrous mood swings that much WORSE. I was never happy, I was giddy. I was never mad, I was so angry I could kill someone with my bare hands. I was never sad, I would fall into crying jags that just wouldn't stop.

Now, I have that problem straightened out. (Hurray for Estrogen replacement!) I feel more like myself.... but there is so much MORE of me! I put on almost 20 pounds in the last year. All the clothes I bought last summer don't fit. So, back to the gym I go. It's just another step in the right direction of getting myself back together.

We threw ourselves on a chair too, but it nearly cracked, so we move onto another furniture. Not sure where we went, but smashed a couple of glasses, bumped a bookcase. It was a fierce sight - not usual, mind me. :baby: The girl's nuts, I reckon. Oh well, didn't hurt me anyway.

The basics too?

What it must be always in mind is that the body won't get better or slim just by sitting and babbling about. Although it's hard to deal with feelings when it comes to our shape - therefore our own sense of happiness with our health, no one else can do it for you.

It's good knowing that you manage to get up and go there, even if it cost you some pounds to remember (and to move) how having some gym workouts might help you. Patience is really needed. Women have a hard time to lose weight. Some never manage to lose any - although I think that if they stopped, if they gave up, they would surely gain much more and become even more depressed or ill.

What might happen with you, Bigsister, is probably the way you eat - as most USAians, who eat carbs day and night, I mean pizza and those heavy stuff that I can hardly believe you eat as soon as you wake up. I may be wrong too - you can have been eating ok. That's also the age that decreases your metabolic timing.

But there are those keys (everyone knows them, but never hurts to remember again) that may help:

1 - Will/Motivation
2 - Eat right (many times a day, but not too much at once. More carbs during the day, more protein at night)
3 - Cardio exercises (riding a bike or running, although I'd advice bike due the joint problems)
4 - Sexual life (at least 4 times per week)
5 - Cut off soft drinks and snacks if possible
6 - Gym workout (in a 3-cycle program: endurance, strength, mass)
7 - Don't be fooled by scales (if you train for mass, you'll get heavier and bear in mind that more muscles burn more fat)
8 - Get enough rest (this way you won't be stressed the day after, making you lazy and skipping all your hard work)
9 - No excuses to skip your duties (do not use the sunday or saturday to "drink until die" or "eat until elephantize")
10 - Try finding a partner (this is important and pretty difficult. Try finding someone with the same goals and, most importantly, that can follow you through all those steps as well. It's a pain in the ass when people starts complaining and do not help your or themselves. It's better be alone than accompany those sort of people)
11 - Do not die (or there won't be much else to do)

Well, there's more to be said, but that's that. :D
