In the base of smiths’ conveyance—base = bottom, smiths’ conveyance = wagon, at the bottom of a wagon are the wheels (and the axles and so on but the Wheel is a region). Also, the smiths in question were in the same map as Glen Garrison, providing an extra clue.

X marks the spot Lysander had a map of the region with an X put on it where Glen Garrison is.
