Random Thoughts - Third Edition
Yes, and somebody already did that. It's called UTC. Time zones are fine but Daylight Savings (it doesn't) is just dumb.Ethric wrote:Each individual estimating the time from the position of the sun or their personal internal clock doesn't work so well in modern society. You need to invest in auto-adjusting clocks...
Also, daylight savings was made to save people money on candles... i wonder if today it actually does anything (though i guess until we get almost free energy it should still be cost effective)...

There I agree, I was just poking at the percieved disgust so common in Americans at the concept of a government that thinks it can decide things for youKristo wrote:Yes, and somebody already did that. Those aren't clocks, those are electronic calendars.ThunderTitan wrote:You need to invest in auto-adjusting clocks...
How can it be called free or abundant when it costs? Air doesn't cost because it's abundant, but energy?ThunderTitan wrote:Also, daylight savings was made to save people money on candles... i wonder if today it actually does anything (though i guess until we get almost free energy it should still be cost effective)...
All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.

Well even if we can produce energy for no cost there will be a cost in maintaining the equipment and the cables that bring it to your home... and air doesn't cost anything because no one can stop you from getting it and you can't live more then 3-5 min without it...

Remember the assignment I complaint earlier, well it is done now and we manage to submit it quite early before the due time.
Me and my group were adding the finishing touches on our project yesterday, waiting for that lame member to submit his last 2 reports. When we got it, we did review and were impressed of the 7 pages reports. Then we noticed something.
Usually it is a habit of all our classmates to "share" our project, exchanging tips and references, normal stuff. Then my group notice that the guy who did our last reports had too many references on another groups project. We did a comparison and found the structure, everything in the report is exactly the same as the other group, although only some vocabulary changes, it is still poorly done. Plagiarism. The lamest attempt someone should do for a work.
Somehow, this guy seem to pull off almost everything you hate from a group member. MIA during group meetings is fine, then he endlessly bug us about his report we gave him, asking us weird questions which he should ask the lecturer in the first place. Why can't do that, cuz he's not even in class. Then the poor effort in doing the reports, making me modify 50% of his work, and I don't take credit from him. Now he plagiarize at the day before submission, giving us no time to re-write it, and claims he got all the references from Uncle Wikipedia.
We were quiet, submit the work he has done, hopefully the lecturer will spot it. In the meantime, we should make an award for him, being able to pull off every trick you shouldn't do in group assignments.
