And I must say there are a couple of movies there I'm really surprised you haven't seen them yet AS: Shawshank Redemption, Godfather, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind to quote only a few. I watch a lot of "genre" movies: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and several indie or Canadian movies that didn't belong to such a list. And yes I'm late with several classics -- I often end up with a recent release when I rent something because the good old stuff is hidden in the middle of the store. But I'll catch up... someday.

The reason I scored low was because:

1) Most of the movies there, I haven't watched, but I watched a lot more than I picked
2) I don't really like or watched many classics. Few come to mind: Alien, Terminator, Predator (if that's a classic), but that's about it :P
All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.

It seems sort of a random assortment of movies. A lot of them I'd hardly call "classics". A lot of them on there I've been meaning to watch for a long time (even own them) but just haven't gotten a chance to watch yet...

That list of films is basically the Imdb's top 250.

A good list, but it remains debatable. I haven't seen The Dark Knight yet but I wonder if it really should be that high on the list.

The list is definitely debatable. As compared to the hype around it, Dark Knight turned out to be a big disappointment for me (modest direction & screenplay, plot holes, unrealistic character development/decisions etc). Yeah, Heath Ledger played the Joker well - and yes, he died after - but is that enough to justify the hype and high score?

It's a list based on popularity, not quality. These two concepts are not equal, the first one can be measured contrary to the other, which is subjective, therefore it's not really debatable.

Weird... once I heard The Dark Knight is more popular than The Godfather...

Nah... if you want my prediction, The Dark Knight will leave the Top 10 by the end of next year at the latest. Every year 1 - 2 movies manage to make it to top 10, but eventually they drop off. For example, IIRC even Pirates of the Carribean used to be there in its first year... but where is it now? At position #250, so soon to disappear at all from the top 250. Why? Same reason why some games are also going down: lack of replayability and bad sequels (who are often good for money milking for the producers, but in the meantime they also alter the beauty of the original title).
