I saw this documentary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_kong

And man, did that little kid nailed it when she said "some people sort of ruin their lives to be in there"... i wonder if that was for real or staged...

Anyway, watch it, it's actually a bit emotional, if kinda sad...

Rented Journey to the Center of the Earth. Meh. Reminded me of those minimalist movies they show at the entrance of some Disney attraction, just to provide a little context for the ride. We spent half the movie wondering if we were supposed to have our 3D glasses on.

Was kinda fun though some scenes were plain ridiculous. Brendan Fraser being hunted by lightning lol :D Or baseball batting the fish. Or the conversation while falling for I don't know how long. Had good visuals though.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Sorry people, but today I saw Transformers. It's kinda late, I know but heck I saw it now.A lot was said on this movie here and I can only say one thing about this. IT'S FREAKING AWESOME. Everything about the movie is so dahm good. Humor, visuals, storyline, music, characters etc. Really one of the best, if not, the best movie of the year!

Saw Guillermo Del Toro's The Orphenage. Great acting, a spooky atmosphere, great 5.1 sound, but unfortunately I thought the ending fell a bit flat. Still, Mr. Del Toro is becoming one of my favorite filmmakers.

DVD menus annoy me a lot these days. They remain slow, sometimes confusing, and often spread across several submenus for no obvious reasons. Why does the background animation still play in a loop like, forever? After a minute, just it could just shut off, as I'm probably fixing myself a snack in the kitchen, and already sick to death of hearing the same sounds over and over. There has been no improvement in the area since the DVD was introduced. And I'm not even talking about the ads that play automatically when the disc is inserted...

I hate long menus that 'look cool' in both movies & games. :disagree:

I know how you feel, AS! However, I have come up with a brilliant solution to this problem, as I often go to get snacks or get my glasses before the movie starts: press the mute button before you leave the room! :D I'm so clever, I know. Brilliant :P

Just saw Running with Scissors again the other day. I just love that movie. It's like The Royal Tenenbaums gone bad! Even more funny is, that it's a true story! Poor Augusten

Watched "The Restless" recently, not sure how good you guys consider it but it was ok, though it didn't make much sense to me; the soundtrack is awesome btw. (sometimes epic asian-like soundtrack)

Oh and I just love movies where someone takes on an army :P

By the way, what are your favorite movies? Mine:

1. Lord of the Rings movies (the Two Towers especially)
2. Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God
3. The Matrix movies
4. Earthsea
5. Pitch Black
6. The Terminator movies

(from my current chaotic thoughts, for sure missed some :P)

What are you talking about? That's my list of my favorite movies, those that I have watched, so you can't say I "missed" one for that list that I haven't even seen

Then it's pointless since we don't know your entire list. As an extreme example, imagine someone watching only "Ricky 1" (:P) and then saying it's the best movie he ever watched.

I'm not saying you have a bad list, heck those are one of my favs as well. ;)

2. The Shining
3. Halloween
4. Star Wars: A New Hope
5. The Matrix

These are not the best movies I saw, but I can watch them over and over again.

Sheesh, The Death you have to argue with Asheera about her own taste in a movie thread? :disagree:

That's why I make copies of all my DVDs, and cut out all that extra crap. Just the movie and audio tracks, and subtitles if appropriate.

If you do that, you can as well just rent them for a day which is cheaper than buying them :P
