Eeeeexcept that every game on my PC no longer works. Crap. Total system failure... Oh, man, this could get ugly.

Edit: Yeah, all games corrupted by my trying to uninstall the Sierra Online thingy that got lodged in my PC upon installing Caesar III. The only games still working are GalCiv2 and H5. I have managed to save Civ4 by uninstalling everything and reinstalling... I'll keep working on it..

That's what happened with my old laptop. It was a nice Catch-22. I could have reformatted it, if I had enough disk space. The only way to get more disk space, was to reformat it. I had two drives: one for all of my media and programs, and the other for documents. I could only save one drive if I reformatted the other. Naturally, I kept the documents.

By going on a killing spree in Saerk's place I ensured Anomen would not be taken into the Order of the Radient Heart. He turned Chaotic Neutral (raving madman), and when he fumed outside the door I mocked him and so he attacked me...

Moahahahaaaa!!

That was pretty nasty!!

You're going to have to make an evil party though, as the good guys will just bail out of your party (or even attack you, if I remember correctly).

I have an evil party. I am now a half-ogre fighter with neutral evil alignment, and building up a party consisting of evil and neutral characters:

Me (fighter)
Viconia (cleric)
Korgan (fighter)
Jaheira (druid)
Yoshimo (thief)

I am keeping Jaheira as long as she bothers to stay; she's not completely necessary, but another half-cleric, half/fighter doesn't hurt. I'll need a mage, so I'm going to get Elvin now that Anomen is bleeding down the pavement.

Nice! Who's going to be your thief post-Chapter 4 though? (when Yoshimo decides to be an idiot and attack you in Spellhold :D)

Darn, and to think I was so close to beating this game too... :(
Life's not easy for an Archer though...:D

But one thing that puts me off is when you create your party. So much to choose from...made me always chose a predefined party. Much easier to pick stuff in Diablo II and Sacred.

Hmm...well, if you go for your own party (because in single-player you only create the protagonist), this is, IMO, a good way to make it:

There are six slots for your party:

[Protagonist] - Class with many HP's (if he/she dies, it's reload time!)
Could be a Fighter or Barbarian.
2. Fighter/Cleric or Cleric
3. Thief or Fighter/Thief
4. Sorceror or Wizard
5. Archer (I love this class! It's a ranger kit)
6. Druid (They can heal like clerics, but having 2 clerics is somewhat redundant, IMO).

This applies to Baldur's Gate 2. If you're playing BG1, then just switch the Archer with a Fighter proficient in a ranged weapon. Slot 4 will then be filled with a Wizard (since Sorcerors are from BG2). Your protagonist would be a fighter...since Barbarians...well, you get the idea :).

Hope this helps!

The bad thing is that you have to have a thief in your party, and even though you have Yoshimo available (who's neutral aligned, and not a bad thief) you lose him in Spellhold. After that you get Imoen back, so I usually choose to go with Yoshi and make the switch in Spellhold. Still, bugs me that I can't do without that damn gook who always says: "I can dance on the head of a pin as well!" Argh. Maybe I'll be a Thief myself next time.

Hm? Oh, I have no idea. But's darkish, has a phoney accent and bugs the heck outta me... I'd prefer playing without him, but I really need a thief to find and disarm all them traps. And he's needed for dragon slaying too, with his trap setting ability.

Gotta love the super-cheap prepatch trap exploit.

But I agree with you about how much of a drag needing a thief is. It was just as bad in Neverwinter Nights, because you either had to be a thief or you were stuck with Tomi as a henchmen.

Wasn't there a Gnome with a crossbow who was also a pretty decent thief?

Or a Mage with a pixie as a familiar...

And Kalah, you should try Jan. You don't need more than half a thief anyway.
Winterfate:Bad party if you're going to be good. A Cavalier or Inquisitor should be included for the Holy Avenger (not to mention that Inquisitors are pretty awesome on their own!), and there's too little mage power.
