Perhaps they thought it'd be too similar to an orbital bombardment?
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

I wasn't too fussed about the Planet Cracker ability anyway, but the loss of the blackholes is annoying. It looked great seeing those Battlecruisers get distorted and stretched before getting sucked in.
However, from the pictures it looks like you can now get more than one of them at a time.

I'm following the development of SC very closely and I really can't wait for it to ship. WC3 is getting kind of boring..

The lead guy in charge of SC2 used to work for EA on C&C....

And the Mothership's Time Stop seems to have been turned into a Corsair's Disruption Web like ability.

And there's talk that the Firebat is back in the current build. :D

Yea Kraune said it himself in the latest Q&A. I really hope they keep them out, never liked the unit.

Or a Flame Tower like in Red Alert! Easily one of the best reasons to pick the Soviets over the Allies (that and the Heavy Tank). They've borrowed from other games, and one of the people worked on C&C, so you never know...
Firebats weren't the best Terran unit, but if Zerglings got up close you'd always to be glad to have a few there to fend them off.

TESLA COIL.... that was the only needed reason.

The mothership lost the black hole ability?
Was it replaced by something or what?
black hole made sense for protoss as nuke makes sense for terran
(although smells like C&C 3, but with a different flavour and better taste)
Where exactly does the rainbow end?

Seems to have been replaced by a cloak ability like the Arbiter's.

with these changes the motherships seems to have more a tactical use, than firepower
also, are the reaver and the soulhunter out? kept for an expansion maybe?
I also heard that the tempest is out and the carrier is back in; can you confirm?
other stuff: cobra replaces vulture; predator - valkyrie

Soul Hunter's been out for a while now... and the Colossus apparently took the Reaver's role. Carriers are back in, but the Tempest was pretty much one anyway. And yeah, cobra replaces vulture; predator - valkyrie, more or less.

ok, thanks for the info; can't wait to see the zerg; I hope the hydralisk stays the same; also I'm curious about the succubus unit
(the colossus acts different from the reaver from what I've seen)
also the nomad instead of science vessel? and what about the observer and the terran medic?

Observer and Medic seem in atm.

And the Colossus is anti-lowlvl-mass units, something the Reaver also did, more or less... that inter-lapping got it canned.

They said awhile ago that sucubuss is fake info. Hydralisk will prolly get specialized kind of like dragoon split into stalker and immortal. They don't want to have a unit that can adapt to anything, and the hydralisk certainly was one of them in sc.

The Hydralisk is in the concept art, and i think it's a safe bet they'll be there, maybe with some new abilities/evolutions. Frankly i hope they'll make the Zerg even more mutable, it'd be really cool to see a Ultralisk equivalent mutate into something even bigger.
