Time for a 6 month or so update...

Unread postby corleone » 03 Dec 2010, 13:50

If I look back in my post, it was maybe 2009 and maybe 2010 and maybe end of 2010.....

Any ideas of the next timing update?

Thanks,

Corleone

I'm afraid that situation is different. The russian team seems to be close to the finale but they are not finalizing.

Yes, that's that situation when they decide which features will be presented in the end and that nothing more will be added.

As so the latest 3.59 Betas are rather quite playble but no no final product of them.

So that's that more optimistical guess, based on two yrs old clues.

Hopefully someone shed more light on that. :D

I don't think they are close to final.

Actually I believe they did about 10% of planned work then they realized it won't make it. It was simple for me to get logical conclusions from the latest 3.58 script updates and fixes which have been submitted to 3.59 team, and they were ignored. Then BAD tried to wake them, but we see how fast he simply quited WoG right after discussing with them. Then Sagamosa got called by Corwin and asked to help for 3.59, he said yes but no news from Corwin since 6 months. In all, it is the biggest hoax possible. Their main goal was to add a new town, but without Slava help, it seems they can't. So they continue keeping their forum to give the illusion of activity, but the last thread regardless 3.59 is one year old.

Me and Jim Vogan offered help via Berserker, but were ignored as well. And we know how to work and finish something. They want to go alone, they will fail alone. Good programmers without doubt, but for such big task you don't refuse help, specially when you struggle on it for years already.

So no chance to save wog

Isnt there any way for them to give up the code they've done so far to allow others to finish?

1. They are Russians, they won't give away anything, even if it was a cure for cancer.
2. I believe they don't have anything in a form of "code", especially in a form understandable by anyone else. Technical documentation was never strong part of hacking.

Time to give up, or keep on hoping

Unread postby corleone » 23 Aug 2011, 12:18

So, I keep telling myself to give up on 3.59; and I keep hoping...

Am I hoping for nothing? ANY evidence at all that anyone on the planet is truly working to finish 3.59?

ERA is the next version of HoMM III WoG. It even reports it's version as 3.59

People were not waiting 3.59 for a few bug fixes or new commands reserved for VERY advanced scripters, as ERA does. But for new scripts/objects for wogified games. Those will never come.

And btw ERA has a long way before everything is tested. What works on paper is not always in game. That's why mapmakers and modders should now work on ERA, to speed the testing process because the author is available to fix anything wrong.

I know. But for efficient testing players should also use ERA instead of old exes, because when someone creates a map/mod for ERA and an user tries to play it with 3.58f, the process of helping the user might become pretty painful.. Some people fail at installing it..

Which is the main reason I will keep XP as longer as I am not done with Heroes. Win7/Vista just BS in this case.

If for some reason you need newer windows (or any other OS), you can have XP running in virtual machine.

Asking again, way past 6 months, AND I know the answer

Unread postby corleone » 18 Nov 2012, 13:38

3.59 is never gonna happen, right? Is any new version going to come out, or should I just give up?
