All about more food
Just got back from Sam's Warehouse Club where I buy Cookie making goodies in mass. I bought 50 lbs of white sugar, 25 lbs of self rising flour, 14 lbs of brown sugar, (flour 'goes bad' - sugar doesn't) 14 lbs of semi sweet chocolate chips, 8 lbs of pecans, 6 lbs of M&M candies, and 2.5 lbs of white chocolate. If I could buy Butter Flavored Crisco in a 55 gallon drum, I'd be SET!

I was enjoying a Laksa last night, when I got to thinking about food and kids (not as in eating kids though)
A lot of my friends who have kids complain that their kids "don't eat this, don't like that" and that's mostly in regards to fruit and vegies, and some even have kids that will only eat like one thing, nuggets, or something particularly nasty like that, it occured to me cause Kade and Josie were sitting on my knees and eating laksa (which is basically a curry soup), prawns, squid, fish, bean sprouts, capsicum and mushrooms .... they like olives and avocado amongst lots of other fruit and vegies .... it just makes me wonder how much of an impact the parents actions have on the kids eating habits
our kids probably do eat a little too much fast food, but at least they do get a fairly balanced diet and eat a heap of different things ....
anyway, just a thought

Human madness is the howl of a child with a shattered heart.
Kids will pretty much eat anything they see their parents eating. They will also "Not Like" anything that the parents don't like. My husband doesn't eat many veggies... there fore I have trouble getting my son to eat them. I don't eat coconut, peanut butter or shell fish. My son avoids all of those aside from shrimp which he loves. My older boy hates pineapple... the younger one just never got much exposure to it because I didn't fix things with pineapple in them. Therefore, the younger the child, the more "dislikes" he or she is likely to 'pick up' from the family.

Well, I made it, that fact alone makes it very special indeed...Pol wrote:@Kalah
And how you are doing your salad, something special about it?
It's just majo, sour cream, leek, onions and salt/pepper. And potatoes, of course. To avoid making it too "soupy", I chop the onions and leek very thoroughly, all but the whitest parts of the leek; those are nice to have as semi circles in the sallad. Then I make sure I use enough potato bits and regulate with about 40/60 sour cream/majonaise, so it all gets suitably thick. It's sallad, not porridge, as I've explained to some of the more slow-learning of my colleages on numerous occasions. Then, at the very end, dumpå a bunch of salt 'n pepper in it. Should be piquant, shouldn't it.
Goes with just about anything, but particularly barbecue food and beef sandwiches
