"Difficult" is the wrong word. "All but impossible" is more like it- it would take actually rewriting everything from scratch if we were to do something like that.

exactly...
plus, if you're going to implement something, you SHOULD implement it so it works in all conditions, not just the most common ones... (same thing applies for DD, flight and town portal)...
that's just my programming ethic, and if you can't do it so it works all the time, either disable (minimize the appearance of ) all the other cases, or don't do it at all...

Just a bit of update ... Ubisoft made the simultanous turns in expansion to Heroes V ...

So maybe Lord cannot do it but it seems that Ubi can :-D

Anyway the sim turns in h5 are limited and switch to normal when players can see each other or trigger the same object in next turn ... it's very much alike to my description of simturns I have posted here couple of months ago ...

Well in HoMM5 you also have the DD spell (it's called instant travel) and they managed to do Sim turns in a very familiar way I described here... and it actually works :D

Most online players from ToH say that it's a great feature ...

and I must say though HoMM3 is a great game HoMM5 seems to be a lot better when it comes to features that speed up the MP game (there is also this reapat battle after quick combat thing and it works great )

I still think it would be great to see sim turns in h3 wog tournament ... and yes I know you guys have it harder becouse you have no source code :(
