FedEx and the Dark Messiah Computer
FedEx and the DM Computer
Reminds me of a similar experience I had over 20 years ago. I had purchaced a new 8086 computer and printer to prepare my dissertation. I lovingly hauled it in my car 800 miles to my school, only to discover the port for the printer was not being recognized. My father agreed to return it to the shop if I shipped it to him. The box arrived at my dad's in about the same shape as the one shown. But when my dad checked the computer, not only did it work fine, but the port now functioned correctly as well. So I credit UPS with fixing my computer, although I've never sent anything through them since.

there's just too many stories like this, it's pretty ordinary really, but at least he got it!!

I got in touch with FedEx customer service and they told me that FedEx courriers are allowed to deliver the package without a signature or to perform an "indirect" shipment (by finding someone who lives near the destination and who agrees to sign for the shipment).
I could only complain further if the package had been damaged, which wasn't the case (only the packaging was falling apart). Oh well, case closed.
