Ahh, who indeed could forget the Pkunk and Yehat. A talented artist, who goes by Zarla, made a nice drawing of their encounter:

And who could forget the game's other great characters like Fwiffo, Admiral ZEX, and Talana.

I gotta give props to Morte and TNO from Planescape too. I'm playing through right now for the first time and find their dialogue extremely enjoyable.

Werent all these randomized in every game?
I didn't play enough repetitions to see any significant changes. What gave these characters their 'personalities' were the utterings they would make in different situations. Ivan (the tank) spoke only Russian.
Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

Some favourite characters:

Wolfstan: Heroes of Might and Magic 5. ("You'd give in?! Thousand years of dwarwen kings just swept in their graves.")
Grizzly: Jagged Alliance 2 ("Here kitty, kitty. Come to grizzly")
Memnarch: Magic the Gathering. ("All memory of your existence will be wiped from reality. You will die, and no one will mourn." )
Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis. (One of my favourite adventure games)

I might not remember quotes exactly.

Only their availability was randomized (though you'd get unavailables sooner or later for hire). Not their personals. I think Ivan is favourite character for people in general because he is such an effective merc for his prize, I think he had best bang for buck in the game.

Lets see Yuni, Lula, Aeris, Paine, Rikku, Dash, (yeah Seph too). And this from a person who has a terrible memory. Lots of memoriable people in the FF world, and quite a few from other RPG's. I notice nobody saying (yet) anybody from any of the Homm worlds (even the beloved III).

I had been tempted to mention the Duke and Lara both, but since I hate the TR games I let that one slide and I enjoyed a bit of Duke Nukem, but more blowing up the toilets then anything, so that didn't qualify him in my book
