why stop at seamonsters?

being an ichthyologist, I'd much rather see a water-borne faction of fishy-folk than another dwarf remake.

bring on the merfolk!
Yes,a lot of people would like to see that, and there have been very good proposals, but alas thats something inovative, and thus wont be seen very soon.It takes guts to make something new,and those that seek profit rarely have it.

Creatures, stray buildings (not accessable by land), atlantis like communities. Add anything to spice this up :), I hate traveling on sea in H5. Oh joy I just got 5 wood from floatsam...hey there is yet another sunken ship...happy happy joy joy. Would even like a 'undead pirate ship' that is compose of all ghosts and 'moves'. That would at least be interesting. Yes mermaids should return! Krackens, giant octupi, the whole nine yards! hmmm wonder if I will make a town (not the one I already posted) out of this idea...probably hehe.

yep, exactly the point, it's only real use now is to move from place to place, before it had it's own "places" to explore

Depends on how many tentacles the artist put on it.

And most of the Krakens i've seen look more like this:

Then This:

EDIT: And then there's this:
In modern German, Krake (plural: Kraken) means octopus, but can also refer to the mythological Kraken (Terrell, 1999).

And there is also this:
In the earliest descriptions, however, the creatures were more crab- than octopus-like, and generally possessed traits that are associated with large whales rather than with giant squid
Seing here, kraken legend probably comes from encounters with a giant squid, which indeed is octopus-like.So,are we to considers krakens as crabs?Besides, krakens are often depicted as long createures with tentacles coming from their bottom(squids).Turning to the greatest authority in fantasy creatures(D&D  ) it says here:
Six of the beast’s tentacles are shorter arms about 30 feet long; the remaining two are nearly 60 feet long and covered with barbs. Its beaklike mouth is located where the tentacles meet the lower portion of its body.
Also there is a picture of it in the monsters manual, but I dont have that here. But google does:

Ahem:

Octopuses are characterized by their eight arms (not tentacles), usually bearing suction cups.

squid, have eight arms and two tentacles arranged in pairs.
Notice anything?

Interestingly tentacles aren't what we commonly think of:
Tentacles are longer than arms and usually have suckers at their tips only.

Fine,by those two definitions krakens are neither. They have two extra long tentacles, like squids, but have eight in total, like octopuses.

The D&D one anyway.

And you forgot to finish one of your quotes:
Since the late 18th century, kraken have been depicted in a number of ways, primarily as large octopus-like creatures, and it has often been alleged that Pontoppidan's kraken might have been based on sailors' observations of the giant squid. In the earliest descriptions, however, the creatures were more crab- than octopus-like, and generally possessed traits that are associated with large whales rather than with giant squid. Some traits of kraken resemble undersea volcanic activity occurring in the Iceland region, including bubbles of water; sudden, dangerous currents; and appearance of new islets.

In 1802, the French malacologist Pierre Denys de Montfort recognized the existence of two kinds of giant octopus in Histoire Naturelle Générale et Particulière des Mollusques, an encyclopedic description of mollusks. Montfort claimed that the first type, the kraken octopus, had been described by Norwegian sailors and American whalers, as well as ancient writers such as Pliny the Elder. The much larger second type, the colossal octopus (depicted in the above image), was reported to have attacked a sailing vessel from Saint-Malo, off the coast of Angola.

Montfort later dared more sensational claims. He proposed that ten British warships that had mysteriously disappeared one night in 1782 must have been attacked and sunk by giant octopuses.

I honestly didn't understand the poll choices so I didn't actually vote, but I definitely think we need some sea creatures to fight like we had in Disciples 2 and Heroes 4.

Searching into seas will become more fascinating, source and artifacts mining will be more interesting.

It's a good ideea and will make the game better/more interesting.

Searching by water’s part of map’ll be dynamic and fascinated. Walking by sea can’t compose with walking on the ground.
It's a good ideea, but it can't compare to adv on the ground.
Their appearances won’t change something.
Having sea monsters won't change anything.
No! Seas are bodefull thing, witch take place at strategic map senselessly.
Seas are bad, they just take up space on the adv map.
