Sylvan campaign -last mission

Help -- just defeated Nicolai, but his objective is still on my list, and it's still dark outside. I think I defeated all the groups of dragons -- if I didn't yet, do I have to fight Nicolai at the same level again? There's no way I could do that -- I barely got away with a couple of treants.

He came after me right after I defeated the last group of dragons, I think . . . any ideas for a noob? Thanks.

I have to say that after a solid week of trying to get through this map I'm becoming pretty bored of getting my ass trounced by huge armies of skeletons. No matter how I try, I cannot build a big enough army to defend myself. About ready to trash

I got my answer to the question above -- I hadn't gotten all the dragons. Now I've gotten all the dragon stacks, and *also* the dwarven artifacts. But now Nicolai is holed up in a castle, and there's no way I can beat him behind castle walls. The last time, he was out running around and came after me -- any way I can get him to come out and play? Otherwise, I'm finished with this mission -- it's the longest, most tedious one I've ever played, and I'm not starting over again. I'm lookin' for some kind of cheat . . .

Not sure what to tell you. I pretty much felt like you do my first time through this one, but I ended up restarting. The second time through didn't take that long. Here's my walkthrough if you want to take a look:

Bah, I've killed this twat Nicholai 50 times now, lost my pheonixes ages ago. SO I have to kill spectral dragons? Where? All the ones that are just sitting around on the map? Great. Why doesn't the mission objectives even mention that? In all the time I've spent killing Nicholai thos dragon groups must have 1000s in them by now. Crap
