You can't be sure they are off - if France and Mexico draw and the hosts defeat France in the next game and Mexico fall victim of Uruguay, or if France beat Mexico and lost to South Africa... everything can happen. I personally will LOVE to see France out of the tournament more.

No, they can still advance with a 1-1-1 statistic if Uruguay lose against Mexico and South Africa beat France, but the 0-3 goal difference spells trouble in a deadlocked group. Norway was eliminated from WC94 that way ...

I believe away goals apply in elimination rounds. But I don't know the tie-breaker procedures during group stages.

I'm so damn satisfied with Mexico beating France! For me, Brazil could even lose now that it wouldn't make any difference......... nooo!

Seriously, but France was annoying for us. The last 3 times we had a match against them, we lost. So, it was starting to become a jinxing match. Thank God it's very unlikely that France will continue.

Even God hands won't do this time, nor Henry's.

lol, stupid me. There's no double elimination rounds in the World Cup competition - just single elimination knock-out matches after the group stage.

And by using logic, away goals shouldn't apply in this cup, at all. Excluding South Africa, no team has home field advantage. For tiebreakers, my guess is, they're going to look for most goals scored/conceived and head-to-head goal differential.

Ok, as no one has mentioned it yet - would someone please explain to ignorant little me WHY the refs 'took back' the USA 3rd goal against that tiny country that no one has ever heard of? The only clip I have seen was of one of the THEIR players tackling one of OUR players, yet the foul was (allegedly) called on the USA which resulted in another draw instead of a win.

I didn't see the game nor do I understand the rules so - WTF?

Well there is that rule that says the US isn't allowed to win any games...

And you usaians need to buy your kids some world maps, maybe that way the rest of the world won't think your'e uneducated.

The Slovenians where actually holding back at least 2 of your players in a way that would have justified a penalty kick...

And England didn't beat Algeria?! WTF?! That means that if the US does they move forward no matter how Slovenia vs England goes.

Oh! That clip did show TWO fouls on the Slovenians. But we still didn't win. I think there really IS a rule against it.

Slovenia = Area: 20,273 km2, Population: 2.06 million
Tennessee = Area: 109,220 km2, Population: 6.21 million
