Hey, having her in them doesn't automatically turn the film into crap, though. That show "Dark Angel" wasn't half bad. There's also "The Sleeping Dictionary" and "Sin City"... Let's not discuss "The Fantastic Four"...

Only seen the last two but I was aware of dark angel. She looks great especially so in sin city.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

No, some movies are good enough that one bad actor doesn't hurt them...

you're just bitter TT

she's a decent actor, nothing wrong with her and I also don't think the fact that a person comes from your country in any way stops you from finding her attractive

okay, just saw a movie, had little to no expectations as I had heard nothing about it at all, and it was bloody good, very bloody good!

Shooter is the movies name, starring Mark Wahlberg, also has Kate Mara, Danny Glover and Elias Koteas .... really enjoyed it, great production values, see it if you get a chance

on the topic of Kate Mara .... very nice looking lady, not a conventional beauty to be sure, but I found her intriguing in the movie

Yeah, or more simply: he's gay. :tonguehands:

She is very cute and no problems with her acting. Period.

I just compiled a few of the greatest movie scenes ever... Thought I'd list them here (in no particular order).

"The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King":
When Pippin lights the bonfire in Minas Tirith, causing the chain of beacons to be lit up across the mountains. That scene, flying over the mountain tops, seeing the fires light up... and with that music, it just sends chills down my spine no matter how many times I watch it.

"Virtuosity":
When Sid 6.7 (Russel Crowe) has put on a stylish (stolen) suit and walks around in the mall. The BeeGees' classic "Stayin' alive" plays as the shot pans from his shined shoes upwards. That guy, right there in that scene, is the very definition of the word "cool".

"The Last of the Mohicans":
The fight at the end. Throughout the movie, we have seen what a ferocious fighter the bad guy Magua is. When old Chingachgook storms towards him to avenge his slain son Uncas, we expect a real vicious fight. Then the old man simply evades Magua's strike and makes mincemeat of him in just a few seconds. Totally rocks.

"A Beautiful Mind":
When John realizes he's crazy, seeing things that aren't there. His wife is about to leave him, he runs out into the rain and stops in front of her car, saying "She never gets old! Marcee can't be real; she never gets old!" Took him a while to come to this very logical conclusion, being a math professor and all, but the guy just admitted to his wife (and himself) that he's seeing things that aren't real...

"One Night at McCool's"
Liv Tyler washing the car... just makes me drool. The sexiest scene ever on any screen where there's no actual sex involved. You just wanna grab those wet, foamy... well, let's not get into details.

"Das Boot"
One of the very best war films ever made, full of great scenes. The one where they have just saved their necks, just barely managing to get off the bottom in the Gibraltar strait, is amazing, though. The captain orders full speed through the rough sea, and stands aloft, having the waves swoop across the deck – screaming: "They're in the casino, celebrating our sinking! Well, not yet, kammeraden! Not yet!" Great use of music too.

"The Good, the Bad & the Ugly"
Full of great scenes, this old classic, including the blowing of the old contested bridge. My absolute fave, though, is the long scene where Tuco runs around in the graveyard looking for the grave marked "Arch Stanton". Any other filmmaker would have made that scene last a few seconds. It should, and does, last quite a bit longer.

"Gladiator"
The scene were Maximus dies is awe-inspiring, but there is one scene in the film that can match it. He beats his opponents, reveals himself to the emperor, and as he leaves the stadium you can hear 50.000 people chant: "Maximus! Maximus! Maximus!" Gives me chills. No wonder people want to become athletes.

Good compilation. I think, it's such moments that really make the difference between good and a classic films.

I will post my list today too.

very Russell Crowe-centric there K, you Aussie lover you! ;)

If you're gonna list Liv Tyler's scene in One Night at McCool's, then surely you have to add the carwash scene in Bring It On - Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku in bikini's, water, foam etc .... plus random other hotties as well

another great action scene is in Bad Boys, where the guys and Tea Leoni go into a convenience store and the clerk see's the guns the boys are carrying, then pulls his own gun out and tells them to "Freeze Mother-b!tches!" then:
[Mike, Marcus, and Julie start arguing, nobody paying attention to his gun; Julie just walks out]
Store Clerk: Hey, freeze b!tch!
Mike Lowrey: [as he points the gun her way, in a flash Mike and Marcus stop arguing and point their guns at his head] YOU freeze, b!tch!
Store Clerk: Oh sh!t, I'm f@#ked.
Mike Lowrey: Now back up, put the gun down, and get me a pack of Tropical Fruit Bubblicious.
Marcus Burnett: And some Skittles.

I was with you right up to the end, V. In my opinion 'Gladiator' absolutely stunk. And I like Joaquin Phoenix quite a lot. But, again in my opinion, Russell Crowe is the most overrated actor ever. And I found that scene totally trite, a fitting climax to a totally trite movie.

I liked the movie, but wasn't super excited about it

saw A Knights Tale again - I blame the discussion on who makes a good knight a few pages ago .... Heath Ledger a good knight does not make .... but the movie is good, even if the soundtrack is completely ridiculous

I liked Gladiator, except for the fact that they rewrote history. ;|

But speaking of Roman-themed motion pictures, I've been watching HBO's second season of Rome and it is truly exceptional. It's amazing how much thought and detail went into the sets, script, costumes, etc. If you watch it, make sure you watch the DVDs with the special feature (All Roads Lead to Rome, I think it's called) activated. Small captions appear frequently explaining aspects of the sets or elaborating on historical details. I'm very upset that HBO cancelled the series after two seasons due to expense. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Last night Starz had Rollerball on and it struck me that Gladiator was the same movie with different costumes.
"Max-i-mus, Max-i-mus!"
"Jon-a-than, Jon-a-than!"

Maximus has a nicer ring to it .... and if the shouting of the name was your guide to the sameness of the movies, then consider the episode of Buffy where Jonathon rules the same a Gladiator as well :)

No, that was not the only similarity. And I don't remember any shouting of Jonathan's name in Buffy.
