That's why I love compromise. It always ends up having the worse features of both proposals.

please, it's "concussive energy beams".
That's great. I would like to see the Cyclops of Heroes III return with their ability to attack castle walls. It'd be nice to have an extra shot a the wall without waiting for the catapult or to cast Earthquake again.

You mean like HV being a compromise between HIII and HIV?

How about a water town with mermen, sirens, giant crabs, sea hulks, octopuses, coral-constructs, leviathans and the like?
All bristling with tridents and covered in sea-weed?
The hero's trail on the adventure map should be a giant wave covering him and his army and battles involving him should be on a half-flodded battlefield wich gives bonuses to his creatures.
The skills should be something like Reefwatcher, Tidebearer or
Windseeker.
I don't think something like this will ever be in a Heroes game, but I had fun writing it.

Actually, that sounds vaguely familiar to a winning entry of a create a town contest awhile back.

The post I've made was something I've thought about on the spur of the moment. I didn't even described it in detail.
Taking a second look at it coral-construct should be coral-shambler or coral cave guard, Reefwatcher - Reefdiver and Windseeker - Windsoarer.

funny...

I also miss the Cyclops, and a melee -> ranged idea is fine, but please no laser beams or "concusive energy sbeams rthat give headaches"!!! so cheesy and X-Men-ish...

as a matter of fact, a water based town is one of the 5 other towns planned for the Heroes series right now, and even one of those towns that are extremely likely to show up in an expansion to H5. However, it is based on Nagas.

The headaches are not because of the beams, but being thrown out of a plane with a burning parachute. That's why he can't control them either.

Great, 4 Naga units, how nice. The Medusa better be in there. And the Nagas better be female, at least most of them.

oh, hw foolish of me, why wouldnt the 10ft cyclops be jumping out of a plane with a burning parachute?

and i think that at least 3 of the supposedly 4 nagas would be fremale and the medusa will probably also be there and even if it isnt it will deffinetly be in game as a nuetral.

As the aliens are already there no reason he wouldn't.

And i'm hoping they'll count the Medusa as a Naga, and the Lizardmen too. That way maybe, just maybe well only get 1 lvl 6 No-Retal Female Six-Armed Naga.

i think any level 6 that isnt a no-retal 6-armed female naga is out of the question either way as long as the race is based on them, and probably even if it isnt. medusas will probably be in, but im not sure anout the lizardmen. maybe if its swamp-based like fortress but if its more open-ocean or lake based lizardmen are probably out of the question (unless you count murlocs which imo will probably make it in to the game either way)...

Some lizard species called "glass snakes" or "glass lizards" have no functional legs, though there are some vestigial skeletal leg structures. They are distinguished from true snakes by the presence of eyelids and ears. The tail of glass lizards, like many other lizards, will break off as a defense mechanism, unlike snakes.
Lizards are reptiles of the order Squamata, which they share with the snakes (Ophidians).
If snakes fit in Lakes and Oceans so can lizards.

Hmm I just got to think of how would a faction for the free cities be like? With Sylath as god and all?
What about having, centaurs, harpies, nomads, medusas, giants, werewolves, manticores, brutes(some kind of ettins or berserking men with two handed weapon, I go for the latter), free minotaurs and berserkers?

Faction name: Freeland/Stronghold (I guess the orcs claimed this one, but brought it with anyway)/Fortress (while this could fit for the dwarves or the nagas...ehem..anyway.. ) /Arena or what about....Rampart..? Seriously I have no idea on which name that could fit a faction like those below me. I really hope Nival have some better in store

Colors: Tan & Red/ Brown & Orange/ Teal & Tan

Proposal 1:

Beastmen/women (except the giants) kinda town

lvl1: Harpy - Harpy Hag (flyer & melee)
lvl2: Centaur - Centaur Lancer (ground & melee, ground & ranged)
lvl3: Medusa - Medusa Sentinel (ground & ranged)
lvl4: Wolf Lord - Werewolf (ground & magic, ground & melee)
lvl5: Minotaur - Minotaur Warrior (ground and melee)
lvl6: Manticore - Scorpicore (flyer & melee)
lvl7: Giant - Hill Giant (ground & melee, ground and ranged)

Neutrals: Nomads, Brutes, berserkers.

OR...

Proposal 2:

A town with a few more human like units than beasties.

lvl1: Berserker Axeman (ground & ranged, ground and melee)
lvl2: Centaur - Centaur Lancer (ground & melee, ground & ranged)
lvl3: Nomad - Nomad Bowman (ground & melee, ground & ranged)
lvl4: Minotaur - Minotaur Warrior (ground & melee)
lvl5: Shaman - Brute (ground & magic, ground & melee)
lvl6: Manticore - Scorpicore (flyer & melee)
lvl7: Giant - Hill Giant (ground & ranged, ground and melee)

I know it sounds weird to have ranged as basic and melee as upg for giants. But why not? Why not give the giants a huge kick ass shield blocking even large rocks and a big one handed, hammer or sword or axe?)
As for the shaman and brute. Magic should not always be as like with ranged, better than melle, the shaman can buff allies with light spells and use a bloodlust ability like the paladins use their heal ally ability. The brute can be a man with a two handed axe, sword or hammer.

Neutrals: Minotaur warriors, werewolves, medusas, harpies.

u mean basically a 3D model of the H3 Naga only with les sttraps hiding the body? or maybe you mean a blood maiden only half snake...

@Orfinn
Ok but the Free cities are supposed to be completely human-oriented (unlike Haven, which is supposedly angel-oriented). I dont see breserkers fitting in there, cause they would have to be somewhat civilized unlike the greenskin stronghold (considering there is one and it is greenskin). maybe nomads would fit there. i dont see free minotaurs there, cause more than one type of exactly the same creature doesent sound good (maybe as a neutral of the faaction?) Giants i think are probably already reserved for the Dwarf town, but a nice idea. Harpies imo dont fit, atleast not the way i imagine them. maybe if Ubi decided to design them different from previous games and come up with a good story for them they might fit. A level 7 might be like in H1, a paladin with golden armor and a huge sword, but i really dont know. did i mention that i think that putting centaurs here is a great idea?

Centaurs in the free cities? Well I think they fit better with the orcs, there will propably be redskins, not greenskins in this game ;)
