World's largest penis erected
An amusement park in China has built what it claims is the world's largest penis.
The 30ft erection, named Sky Pillar, has been built at Longwan Shaman Amusement Park in Changchun city.
Builders wrapped more than 6,500ft of straw around the steel structure which stands on an altar atop 1,250ft high Qinlong Hill.
"It is a totem of Shamanistic culture, which originated in this city," says the president of the park, Cheng Weiguang.
Legend says a Shaman hero named Ewenki vanquished a cruel female ruler and gave her a penis totem, telling her to respect males and not kill them at will.
After this, the ruler set a penis totem on top of the hill, reports East Asia Economic and Trade News.
Shi Lixue, director of the China Folk Culture Association, backed the project, saying: "It symbolizes our ancestors' pursuit of happiness and prosperity."
And, although some tourists said they felt uncomfortable about the statue, others were unmoved.
"It's just a pillar. I don't care. It can be a symbol of the park," said one mother who was visiting the park with her child.

Teen found herself on porn cover
A 17-year-old Staffordshire student is taking legal action after finding her photograph on the front cover of a porn film.
The snap of Lara Coton - taken on a family holiday when she was just 14 - was being used by US adult entertainment firm TVX Films for Body Magic.
Last year Lara e-mailed the picture to an art website, which displays work from photography students across the UK, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Her mother, Christine, had taken the photograph inside their hotel room in Blackpool in 2004. She captured her daughter wearing a black top hat and black dress.
Lara, of Tamworth, Staffs, found the photograph on the front of the American porn film earlier this year after a friend tipped her off.
She said: "I was horrified when I found out it was being used to sell a porn film.''
She wants compensation for her image being used without consent.
TVX Films claims it was entitled to use the picture because Lara had put it in the ''public domain'' but has agreed to change the cover.

Police catch underwear thief in schoolgirl outfit
A Japanese man who tried to steal underwear belonging to a policeman's daughter had some explaining to do when the officer caught him red-handed dressed in a schoolgirl's uniform.
Junichi Uchikura, 24, had intruded into a yard after spotting a pair of the girl's underwear, police say.
But as it turned out, the underwear belonged to the daughter of a police officer.
Alerted by his wife, the police officer chased down Uchikura and was startled to find that the thief was dressed in a schoolgirl's uniform.
Left with little way to explain himself, Uchikura confessed he had snatched the uniform from another house in the south-west city of Kagoshima immediately before intruding into the policeman's home.
"He is saying he stole the uniform and tried to get the underwear to satisfy his sexual desire," a local police spokesman said.

Museum thief gets the finger
A German thief got nabbed after he tore off his finger during a bungled break-in - then went back to retrieve it.
After setting off the alarm at Berlin's Technical Museum late on Tuesday, the 35-year-old man escaped from two security guards, clambered up a three-metre fence, but got snagged by a ring on the middle finger of his right hand.
The man managed to free himself, but only after tearing off the finger.
The security guards arrested him when he went back to recover the severed digit and ask for medical aid.
"His comment afterwards was 'Breaking and entering doesn't pay,'" said a spokeswoman for local police.
Doctors were unable to reattach the man's finger.

Fake pilot emulates DiCaprio's on-screen antics
Chinese state media says a man managed to board a plane disguised as a pilot, pulling off a feat carried out by Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio on screen.
Unemployed Shu Shi, 23, from south-west China, turned up at Beijing Capital International Airport in April, fully dressed and equipped like a pilot of the airline company whose flight he wanted to board, the Beijing News reported, which did not identify the carrier.
The young would-be captain, who had bought the uniform online and downloaded various identification documents, succeeded in getting on the plane that was headed for his home province, Guizhou.
He came unstuck only after the plane's pilot noticed his fake colleague's knowledge of aviation matters was somewhat at odds with reality, prompting him to put him under supervision after take-off and hand him over to police upon arrival.
Shu was detained for 10 days and fined 500 yuan ($US65), the Beijing News says.
In the 2002 Steven Spielberg movie Catch Me If You Can, DiCaprio performs similar acts of deception before he too gets discovered.
