unamiable

And I think it's silly if we allow to append words, but only if it turns them into professions... Word classes shouldn't enter to it, since most derivates of a word is of a different class anyway.

Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

Yes you can. Take a look in the thesaurus at http://www.thefreedictionary.com/editorial...
Adj.
1. editorial
- of or relating to an article stating opinions or giving perspectives; "editorial column"
2. editorial - relating to or characteristic of an editor; "editorial duties"
...and compare to this:
Noun 1. editorialist - a journalist who writes editorials
The second part of Adj. editorial is important. The word relates to editor, wich is something quite different from an editorialist.

If the word was editor, and I wrote editorial, fine, it wouldn't pass.

But the second meaning of editorial can not be used to descibe something related to an editorialist. It's not the same, look at it. En editor is one who edits, not necessarily anything related to a newspaper, wich is what an editorialist is working with.

An editorial matter may very well be a problem that occurs during film editing.

I think that rule is silly as well; it should be that the derivate has a meaning that differs from all the basic meanings of the words.

Caradoc: I know a word to continue with. To bad I can't because of the five-people-in-between rule :devious:

You know what I think DL? I think the rule should read like this:

"It is allowed to use the whole of the previous word as long as the dictionary definition of the proposed word DOES NOT include the previous word IN ANY WAY". This rules out all cheap exploits like editorialist, gamer, etc. And this way, I suggest you increase the bonus points for using the whole word.

Exemplary valid words: game -> gamelan, ally -> allyl, diet -> diethystilbestrol
I believe in science and that science can explain everything.
Because God has made it all work in such a beautiful way...

Go ahead. If you don't, the round is over anyway. I'd like to see what you've got.

Since the rules prohibit me from taking the points, I'll save it until someone tries the same stunt again. I have nothing against the game ending right now :D
