It was just a really crazy - so called - football match.
The worst part is actually, that every single yellow/red card was deserved.

4 red cards in a World Cup match... I think that's a new record ;|

And with this game, this is now the World Cup with the most red cards ever...

How stupid can players get? Both Costinha and Deco got their second cards for really, really stupid stuff. At least Holland's looked like they did things that ended up worse than intended.

Portugal played well, so it's not undeserved that they made it. Sad that their game had to turn out like this.

Yes, and now Portugal will lose their next match (you can cet on it) because of suspensions. Stupid, stupid.

But it did have you on the edge of your seat.
And maybe those americans could enjoy it too.
I like watching soccer but many of my countrymen do not. Fighting like that might appeal to hockey fans, but that's not what Americans really want to see, we like scoring. The one thing that drives us nuts is the way so many of the players take a dive and then go though an Academy award level act begging for a penalty, to us that’s girlish (no sexist remark intended). Man, they out to play badminton then they may not take contact.

England needs to get their act together then- Eriksson is lucky that he has Beckham that makes those goals on free kicks even if England isn't playing too good otherwise. Portugal has a good bench, so they can find replacements. It's bad for them, but neither player is irreplaceable. It would probably be worse if Ronaldo has a serious injury (which I don't think he has).

well, it was Beckhams first goal for England for 1½ years, so he's not really the one to rely on.

Meh. He practically made the one against Paraguay as well. It was just credited as an own goal.

And I did mean Christiano Ronaldo...

That's bad news. I don't like brazil much, and that just might make their attack a whole lot better.

Didn't they lose that one WC against France (98?) because Ronaldo couldn't play?

But he's been playing badly from what i saw of Brazil this WC. He doesn't seem to be in good physical shape.

There's a huge difference between Ronaldo in 1998 and now.
Back then he was young, in good shape and had a good instinct for goals.

Now he seems so out of shape. He's quite slow and just doesn't have IT anymore. My guess is he's been partying to much during his time in Madrid.

You don't make two goals in the world Cup, even if you're playing against Japan, if you don't have something. He's not the Ronaldo he used to be, but he seems to be improving. Time will tell.

My opinion about the first goal was pretty much, that someone by accident hit him on the head with the ball and it went in the net.

But I guess it goes to my very high opinion about his current abilities ;|
and Japan wasn't really that scary either...

The entire team seem that way. Maybe their just taking it slow. They didn't seem to be trying when i watched.

imo they really turned it on against the japanese ... the runs were amazing and they actually improved their finishing ... as "fat and unfit" Ronaldo is - i bet most of the other teams in the WC finals would start him

Ronaldo isn't as good as he once was, but you can expect that. He didn't look too bad against Japan, and when you're on that Brazil team with all those superstars, you don't have to be great. Other than Portugal, (who after today with C. Ronaldo getting hurt and 2 red cards, might be in some trouble), Germany, and Argentina, I don't see anybody else winning the World Cup, so Brazil has a great shot no matter how Ronaldo plays. Robinho can always be brought off the bench, although Ronaldo is starting to look better..
