And I don't really think Germany will get that far. As Ballack has said, they've got good offence, but the defense is lacking. Costa Rica managed to score two, and Poland could have won that game as well. Ecuador didn't even try, and Sweden didn't get much of a chance, after the horrible start and then having to play one man short. All in all, Germany hasn't been really tested yet, even if they seem to have two strikers who score as soon as they get a clear chance.

The real test will come against Argentina. If Germany wins there, I think they'll take the gold. The reason I'm so impressed with them is their team effort - few other teams have played so well like a team. And as Klinsmann (a former striker) has pointed out several times; it doesn't matter how many goals the opposition gets, as long as you get more.

Germany has been know to receive very few goals before,so for them receiving goals in the very begining can be a bit demoralazing.Kalah wrote:The real test will come against Argentina. Btw,why are the rules for gaining points still this rigid?Wouldnt it be better if each team received number of points equal to its goals, instead of the current 1 point for a draw,3 for a win?An effective way to eliminate dull bunker tactics. Its the goals everyone likes to watch, not the defense
Don't be silly. The only way to fairly distribute as much as 32 teams in a single one-month tournament is to have a league system first and then move on to the cup. Also, with the seeding system implemented, it gives the not-so-good teams a chance to play more than a single match before elimination... Goals as the only point system would only serve to promote defensive play once a single goals was scored.
Now there's an exciting match on: Portgual-Holland, both teams that went through their qualification without defeat. Basically neither teams have lost in like a dozen matches...

Costinha just got his second yellow for doing something silly. Basically players from both team (Portugal in particular) are doing idiotic things and getting yellow cards. I think we'll see more unless somebody shapes up.
Portugal in the lead 1-0, but with half the game left to finish and with only 10 men on the pitch...

Kinda was. England's lucky, Portugal's gonna be missing at least 2 of it's better players. But if we can wipe the floor with them so should Portugal. Go Portugal.Pitsu wrote:More like hockey.

It's the players that were ready to fight. Figo got an elbow straight to the face.
