Actually, I think unity is a good idea for the future.Ritor1 wrote:No, Project move in the same direction. We have optimized the previously decompiled code. Now we are working on drawing the terrain in DX11. But Unity files it's just alternative direction. It made one programmer from a group. Can will be continue.
It's already cross platform engine.
But even original engine remake is good enough for me if it will work someday.

Screenshots from the exe I downloaded from https://www.assembla.com/spaces/mm7
I have no involvement, other than downloading the file to try it out. It works great at HD resolution, but the screenshots are a bit smaller due to me being lazy.
There seems to be a newer exe floating around, but I cant find it.
I did not load in the original game content this time, just to see the progress.

Oh, if DX11 is just an additional renderer to OpenGL, then that's quite good. Still, it's strange that Unity is used, as opposed to Unreal Engine 4, which anyone can download and recompile on their own. I guess this was done before the announcement that UE4 was going free of charge.
As for the textures, I don't think anything is wrong with them, it's more the perspective, the camera is too close to the ground. The increased resolution of the game itself also makes it look more blurry than you may be used to.

I tried the unity demo as well and I agree that it is amazing. The demo runs smooth and it looks nice as well. I enjoyed the new water graphics, but I am worried about how they'll implement the water physics from the original games. The new trees look awesome, but I really hope they don't mess with the look of the games too much.
Great work so far! I really hope to see the project finish, and I just to want to let the developers know that this project looks better than I had expected.

So, when will we see Unity remakes of MM1-5?
Ultima, Elder Scrolls and Might and Magic Veteran.
Re: MM 6/7/8 Total Remake
Is this the MM7 Engine Remake? If so, they are more active on their facebook page, if it isn´t.... They are doing something similiar!

Is there a way of smoothing out the sharp angles of the maps when there is a hill, if so i would'nt mind spending some time changing this for MM7...

There is a new Alpha.
I played it in 1080p on best graphics. Works great. looks pretty good considering it is using very old textures.
You can shoot stuff with the bow and arrow, and go into shops/caves, and pick up some loot, even mix potions (haven't tried potions, but it is listed on the russian site as a new thing). the day/night cycle works, there are stars, trees are 3d etc.

it was uploaded to the russian site here as a music file:

Alpha? For some reason, when I click the link it says version 1.1 indicating that it's complete. Usually when I think of alpha's I think of version 0.3 or 0.5. I must be missing something.
