Heroes 8, I suggest a total makeover. Since Ubisoft insists on making a game full of bugs, might as well get rid of the 'larger than life' unrealistic claims and give us 'smaller than life' heroes instead. Game will still be full of bugs, but at least these are part of the game so no one can complain.
Let's have a micro Heroes 8 that caters to the unknown world that lies beneath heroes 7. It should make H3 Fortress Fans very happy. Also no more need to animate the Shadow Council discussions since many insects can make noise without moving their mouth parts.
No more dragons. We get dragon's fleas.
Cockroaches, centipedes and hookworms are now the mainstay of many armies. Mosquitoes are the default mount for many factions.
We have one faction devoted to Worms. Commando worms, worms with bazookas, all kinds of worms.
We have another faction, the Ants in their capital of Lizard Breath. Terrain is desert, needless to say.
Some cities are mobile since they are built out of Dung Beetles' dung balls. Other cities have solid defense against sieges since they are Termite Mounds. Some cities have super defender armies since they are nestled in Bee Hives. No more crappy H5 Fortress level 1 Defenders!
My most hated Fortress creature, the annoying dragonfly, makes a comeback as one of the larger and more powerful creatures. Ticks that grew on the Mighty Gorgon seem to have inherited the same Death Stare power.
H4 chickens are back and eating lots of insects for breakfast! Chickens, aka Phoenixes, are another top level boss creature.
H6 Toads are finally going to get formal recognition as Level 7 creatures. In H6 I complained that the level 1 Sanctuary toad was more powerful than the level 3 (top level) Kirin. The Toad moved first, they could cross the battlefield using their special attack, and their standard toad leap dealt more damage than the Kirin could in a normal attack. Now the Toad is a top level predator when Heroes8 is shrunk down to size.
The most powerful creature in this world are the Level 8 Titans - aka the Humans. Armed with Lightning Brand Bug Spray that have the same arc attack as a megadragon. Alternatively they can squash insects in melee combat like the Giant did to harpies in the Heroes3 RoE opening cinematic.
Lizards and Mantises make a comeback from H3 and H4 and are also Level 7 creatures. Finally Lizardmen have some real purpose in combat other than acting as distractions! As for gnolls, they can be changed into their nearest physical analogues - level 7 sewer rats. (Sewer Rat, Mutated Sewer Rat; Remy will be the name of one such rat hero)
Best of all, no more need to do fresh in game animated cinematics since Ubisoft appears unwilling to pay for them. Just pay PBS or National Geographic a bit of money to cut and paste their documentary insect footage instead. HD and totally realistic footage on a Heroes battlefield!

Hero Name for the Worm Faction:
Leto (Leto's campaign turns him into a giant worm, much like Mutarre turned into a dragon in Heroes3)
Paul
Alia
Ghanima
Siona (permanently cloaked like Grandmaster Stealth in Heroes4)

I wonder when someone will get the reference to It Came From The Desert!Galaad wrote:That was a hilarious read

This was another of the games I played as a kid that was practically bug free when compared to any Ubisoft product. I particularly loved the minigames inside this game, especially the hospital escape part. It has been my great dream since then to play an 'escape from the cuckoo nest/ Stonehearst Asylum' game, complete with psychopathic psychiatrists and all kinds of insane high jinks.

Still, twice more animated than H7 Council.cjlee wrote:Alternatively they can squash insects in melee combat like the Giant did to harpies in the Heroes3 RoE opening cinematic.
"There’s nothing to fear but fear itself and maybe some mild to moderate jellification of bones." Cave Johnson, Portal 2.

Re: Suggested Future Direction for Heroes of Might and Magic
cjlee, sounds like you were playing Master of Magic and like Dragon Turtles and Stage Beetles. They were killers (comparative to War Mammoths or Golem) but that's a different universum. Warning delivered.
Cannot find any complete site pointing here, they were eaten by time perhaps. We need Time Vaults.
