H3 HD Launched

Today saw the release of the remake of the most celebrated game in the franchise, Heroes of Might and Magic III, on Steam. The wait is over, you can now buy the polished version and see it for yourself, whether it is worth the hype or not. Later, you can play it on tablets too, which is nice.

A while ago I showed Civilizations 5 to my 7 year old son and he got bored fairly quickly. The game was a little too complex for him, the pretty graphics were of little interest. But on another time he was me playing Heroes III, and he spent an hour next to me. He was fascinated by the map exploration, the artifacts, the various creatures, and the big battles. We plan to try a first hot seat game together during the week-end.

I'm so happy to find out that Heroes III is still as relevant as it was back in 1999. Despite the crude animations, it still looks quite fine and most importantly, it's still a lot of fun.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

Loving it so far. I miss the Conflux and combo artifacts about as much as I expected (i.e. not at all). :)

Well, if I could get it for free, maybe. Otherwise, don't care.

I would play with the Conflux just for fun. But the combo artifacts, I completely forgot about them and they are not missed. :)

I don't see it on google play, was watching all the day. And it's not here. Because I already seen a review on portable version and they were praising it to the sky, thanks to easy controls, I'm a little curious.

And my four-year-old daughter just bought her first Archer's Tower ever, all by herself.

I'm so proud <sniff>.

Looks like there's a beta mod already for converting and playing SoD maps plus a way to access the random map generator (if you have H3 Complete). http://steamcommunity.com/app/297000/di ... 472210055/

Unfortunately, my device (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) say "your device is not compatible with this version", so I will keep playing it on my phone through VCMI

now to oficially have a full remake we only require armagedons blade, sod , a good working map generator and editor and perhaps a modding support (similar to wog)

Cool graphics. There sure are enough teeth in the creature graphics now.

Interesting, I wonder if this also works with the native Linux version of the game. Hmm.

I would have liked to see balance and game mechanic improvements rather than just graphics, though I still wouldn't play it because it's time for this old geezer to move on and get with the times. :(

Is it just me or the game runs at horrible fps?

There is a lot of bugs and crushes in the game. Ubisoft did it again.

Try to put any hero of yours on a boat: the next turn if you select that hero again, game freezes.

It's just you; the game is running smoothly for me.

I haven't crashed yet, and have experienced no freezes despite numerous boating trips, so this bug might be an obscure one rather than a more general one.
