Movement bug in MM6-7-8

Unread postby Dess » 18 Apr 2011, 17:29

Greetings, I tried to search for an answer to a little problem I have: It seems that whenever I try to walk north(ish) the party moves a LOT slower than when I walk in other directions, it also slightly veers to the left or right depending on facing.

Is there a way to fix this in VISTA? Other than making a virtual win 98 disk?

(Running the GoG version of MM7 by the way)

sounds like you're strafing for some reason. Try switching the strafe keys.

This is fixed in the new versions of my patches which I still haven't released. I hope to release them very soon, but in case I don't I can send you them.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Sounds awesome, its so annoying having your party die to a dragon because you couldnt flee fast enough north.

I'm really looking forward to your MM6 patch, GrayFace. I have decided not to play (and finally beat the game for the first time) until the permanent bonus well problem is taken care of.

Dess, I'd need your email to send the updates for patches. I'd like you to test them, because you're the only one who encountered the bug while running.

I mentioned the permanent bonus well bug here:
https://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9704&start=225

It's a bug with the original game... not your patch

Anyways, if you are up for fixing it, that would be awesome :)

My 360 got the red ring of death recently when I decided to finally beat Oblivion. Now I don't have any first person RPGs to play.

Oh, that one is on the TODO list, but not in the upcoming version.

Why have you decided to play Oblivion on 360 instead of PC?

I've tried but my computere can't handle Oblivion. I'm gonna try to save up and get (or make) a better PC for when Skyrim comes out

Building your own pc is a good Idea...

Especially if you are attending a college that is paying for the right for you to obtain free Operating system software for your computer(s).

It helps if you have taken some computer hardware classes etc...

Just posting an update to the movement bug and it is indeed fixed by Grayface's next patch. The only thing you might notice is a VERY minor sidewind if you are walking a straight path, like on a road or somesuch.

Run as administrator

One thing that might be worth trying if you haven't already, is to run the game as administrator. I had the same issue MM6 and 7 (haven't tried 8 lately) on WinXP x64 originally, but the GrayFace patches fixed that - however, on Win7 there were still movement issues, but only if the game was run without administrator rights.
