Great Offer on Old Heroes Games

Unread postby Kalah » 07 Aug 2009, 22:49

<img src="/http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5 ... AA280_.jpg" align=right vspace=10 hspace=10>I stumbled over some really nice prices on Heroes games over at <a href="/http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_vg_ ... n.co.uk</a>... Now, we don't normally do this sort of outright plugging, but I think you should know about this, seriously...

Obviously, Amazon are logging out all sorts of obsolete games at lowered prices, but the cherry on the top is a release of <i><a href="/http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heroes-Might-Ma ... -1">Heroes III & IV Complete</a></i> from Sold Out software for only £2.78. That's a collection of the complete versions of Heroes of Might and Magic III <i>and</i> IV <i>with</i> their respective expansions, for less than three quid. The same item sold by the American branch (Amazon.<i>com</i>) is sold for $29.99, which is *quick calculations off the top of my head* ... about six times the price.

I dunno if the price on this has been this low since its release in May, or if it's a bargain thing lasting only a few days... but if you're interested in this at all, I'd pick it up <i>now</i>.

I got this deal about 2 years ago...and I think that it only cost me around $10-$12 (US dollars). An excellent collection I highly recommend it. I'm actually at this very minute playing a Heroes IV Winds of War map that I downloaded from Celestial Heavens a couple days ago! : )

Any way to get a deal like this in Australia? Amazon.co.uk will not ship this to Aussie land.

Pity I've already got most of the games in question. Sounds good for people newer to the series though!

Like I said earlier, "IS THERE A DEAL FOR HEROES 2 and all the extras?" Heroes 2 came with a few extra add ons (e.g., special artifacts, castles, heroes, etc). Just want to know, thanks.

You can try and look for the HoMM 2 Gold edition, it has some extra maps, but the rest of the original game and expansion are identical...

Aside from the single player scenarios, it also featured new campaigns, some extra artifacts (three of which combined to give you a real badass combo), extra adventure map buildings, alternative town music, border guards (annoying - you had to remember the magic word and type it in later), oh and a new building to fill in that empty spot in the necromancer's castle. Not too shabby at all. :)

Great Offer on Old Heroes Games

Heroes 3 got old after 4-6 yrs of playing, plus the adventure map graphics are boring (same w/ the music). Heroes 4 lost it's fun after making maps to compensate for the AI (SIMILAR to all Heroes games). So retro is the way to go. Heroes 2 has a charm that few can duplicate (and the AI is the most nasty). But H5, is like a failed H3.

Does H2 Gold Edition contain stuff that isn't in the Heroes Complete Collection (that big white box)?

Pretty sure Heroes 2 gold is in the complete collection. Companies prefer to use more compact (fewer discs) versions as their choice of shovelware.

Needless to say, for some people who get Heroes 2 later in life the only way they'll hear the original music is via my videos I'm working on right now =D

Really? That's sad =(

IMHO, they should just convert all of the different Heroes 2 tunes into OGG format and have the game shuffle between versions whenever it would change to a different song (and perhaps, also include the midi versions but recorded to OGG via professional midi equipment).

Heroes 2 Gold Edition did come with original CD tracks and the midi tracks for those that did not have the disc. BTW, good luck getting it to run on Vista with the CD music. The best way to play H2 is with Windows XP or an older O/S. It will even run on an old 486 computer.

He was talking about Homm Complete.

Yes, Gold does come with CD tracks. But they're not the original ones =D

I believe Heroes of Might and Magic Millenium Edition had every CD track and every campaign since the beginning. I think it was a 4 CD set. http://www.amazon.com/Heroes-Might-Magi ... 5Fname=2-1

Take a look at the front of the box. It is H1-H3. There were two CDs for H2 (i.e., expansion). But H3 did not come with all the extras. This one appears to be the ideal set minus the price tag. If someone could find it cheaper, this would be one heck of a deal.
