Animated Town Screen
Round Table member Shyranis has created animated videos of all the fully upgraded towns from Heroes of Might & Magic series. The videos are all viewable on <a href="/http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... youtube, and I have to say: nice work.

Now I can rip all of the music and put it on my ipod. Probably. Also, I didn't know that the towns in Heroes II had a different theme for the regular version.

Deadguy, if you have HoMM3 installed, they're already available in MP3 format
Anyway, yes, nice work on animated towns and music. Personally, I'm also starting to make YouTube music movies, this time for Might and Magic V: Darkside of XEEN (though the audio quality should increase when I'll get my hands on the SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium... ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1-OYk0JTqA

Try using a proxy in your web browser =Devilp wrote:Can't visit youtube directly in China....
Just make sure you don't have that new green dam spyware installed.

Interesting. I didn't realize that Heroes 2 Gold has a version of the Sorceress Castle theme that's different from the one in Heroes 2 and Price of Loyalty. I'm also curious why they removed two tracks and supplanted them with Heroes 3 music instead of just using the Price of Loyalty version.

Actually yours might be a bootleg. I'm pretty sure the actual Sorceress theme in the Gold version sounds like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZjTF4ZxA-g

lotusreaver, I'm pretty sure you're right. At least that's the version I know.
And yeah, credit to Shyranis... Great job! Ah yes, the musical qualities of HoMM - they're all little gems

I'm working on the last 2 Homm 5 towns now. 3d games and HD video take a bit more time to work with =DDave_Jame wrote:Am I the only one who misses the orc and Dwarf town in HoMaM V?

Hm... guess I'll post a replacement for that sorceress music while relabelling the one I have now as a possible bootleg.

I like what's been done here. However, there are indeed THREE missing Heroes 2 themes at present: the Price of Loyalty themes for the Sorceress, Knight and Necromancer towns. It'd be really nice if those gaps could be filled. (Lotusreaver's link is indeed to the missing PoL Sorceress music.)
Also, I feel that the music on the Heroes 2 Wizard Price of Loyalty/Gold town sounds a bit glitchy; if it could be redone with higher-quality sound settings, I think that would help. It's one of my favourite themes, but this version sounds a bit boomy and scratchy.
As for the Gold-edition Sorceress theme we have here... very interesting indeed! I'd no idea, until I heard this, that there was a third Sorceress theme. As to whether it's a bootleg or not, can anyone who has the original Gold edition confirm whether or not it's genuine, please?
My feeling is that it *is* genuine. I don't like it that much; I think it seems out of keeping for the town, and the wailing muezzin voice doesn't do it any favours either. But it's not bad, and there's various bits of evidence to point to the possibility that it's genuine. The instrumental sounds are just the same as in the other town themes (which certainly makes it sound as though it was produced by the same people), the general structure of the music is right and sounds authentic, and the use of the tambourine ('tch-tch' and 'tchtch-tch'!) is very much in keeping with the original (non-expansion) Sorceress theme.
So I reckon it's genuine. But equally well, I think it's the least successful of the three Sorceress themes (the missing one is my favourite), and so I wonder whether, perhaps, it was a track that was written for Price of Loyalty but abandoned because it wasn't considered quite suitable. Perhaps it was used in the Gold edition just to differentiate that version a bit from the others, given that there was a spare, unused music track lying around. I'd love to know.

Umm if you want high quality versions of any Heroes II music you can just pop the CD in and open it as an audio CD, all the tracks are right there!
How about doing all the battle music or terrain music as the next project? Don't need any video, just the music.

I've had all the HoMM2 music for a while, provided thanks to a Russian games magazine I read (or used to read). Their cover discs would have a selection of game music playing on them while you navigated the various demos and whatnot, and the website for some time hosted music from games. Extremely useful!
So yes, I have the many various themes of HoMM2 - indeed all three versions of the Sorceress theme. (For my preferences it's this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF4Eq9Tw ... re=related What I love about it in particular is is given a musical nod in the HoMM5 credits music, linking up the two very nicely.)
Aaanyway, I could, if CH wished, provide them or try and make it all available in some way, shape or form.

innokenti: I for one would certainly like a high-quality copy of the third Sorceress theme (the Gold edition one), as that's the only one I don't have on CD. Given that it does appear to be authentic, I'd very much like to add it to my collection. I have all the other themes in iTunes, taken off the original CDs.

I'll have to work out which ones are which and relabel them first, I think. I've been listening to them only as separate tracks. I may be completely wrong, but in my head I can remember having heard 3 different sorceress themes!
The only version of HoMM2 I now have is a re-release pack of Heroes 1-3 with all expansions by the Russian publishers BUKA. I will have to investigate what the composition of the music there is...

Re: Animated Town Screen Videos
I don't own the version of gold without that weird sounding sorceress track or a normal version of PoL so I cannot rip the music from those. But appearantly it's not a bootleg according to innokenti so that's a relief. That's good =DShad0WeN wrote:Umm if you want high quality versions of any Heroes II music you can just pop the CD in and open it as an audio CD, all the tracks are right there!

Also I added some more town themes to the playlist as promised last night.
