Nudity isn't something new to culture, and I think in the case of Heroes it can be easily explained in terms of the fantasy tropes in which it's used.

The receiving audience of those fantasy tropes belongs to a Western culture, in which nudity has sexual connotations. Your explanation is all nice in theory: nudity can indeed be explained "internally" in the game world, but one must take into consideration the external factors as well: who is on the receiving end, i.e. who is interpreting those tropes and in what way, according to what real-life culture frame.

And about sex sells, it's kind of a fallacy to assume that because it's in most things it actually helps sales... i'm sure that there's plenty of it in some games that have tanked anyway...

I actually agree with TT. I am not bothered with the nudity so long as it's a matter of art. When it's a selling device (e.g. finding an excuse to make orc females hot; why should they be?), it becomes kind of a turn off... BTW, why use Eruina as a pic? She's one of the most frigid, austere heroes out there. I had no problem with how Dungeon looked; it is people whose minds are stuck on sex that do. Its only fault is that its a pale imitation of WH dark elves... and yet still my favourite faction of all factions in HV. I also agree w/ Willow - if people are so bothered about female nudity, how about they begin whining about the male nudity in the game too? Or the nudity of females from other factions? I guess the semi-nude fury is much worse than the naked nymph or the bladedancer with his loincloth...



Re the armour, I disagree about a lack of it being unrealistic. The Furies rely on extreme speed, the Matriarchs are sorcereresses/warriors, who could rely on magic shields as well as speed for all one knows. It is probably the case that dark elves also pack much more strength muscle for muscle than humans. Just use your imagination... The only thing "regrettable" about sex selling is how immature the tastes of some are.

And that crotch protector the Furies use would probably deny any speed they might have, plus, you try running in a metal bikini...

When choosing heroes in the game, all you see is the face. Looking at that alone, you can't tell if that's a male or a female and I really never cared to look at the bios for most of these heroes.

By the way, I also thought that Anwen was a male as well until I read her bio. Deleb, I always thought that was a woman.

Weight is one thing, but I believe the pinching in private places might be a problem. Then again, perhaps they like it.

I don't think they're too too concerned about pain. They're there to cause as much of it as possible anyway.



Raven looks male because she is bald. You could easily confuse her for a male necromancer, so long as all you saw was her face...

Causing pain & being in pain = 2 diff things.

Plus, it's not the pain anyway but the fact that having something hitting your legs while running doesn't help you much... why u think speedos where invented?!

You have to keep in mind that you can play Heroes with one hand. It would be silly not to take advantage of this fact.
