Wanted to fix up me car today, but ended up almost ruining it instead. All right, bit of an overstatement, but here's what happened:

I took it to the car wash to clean the underside (wash off the salt, you know), and I also opened the bonnet to clean the engine. Then I set off home. On the way, I noticed a missfire, and just 50 yards away from the house, the engine gave up completely. Couldn't get it started again.
After a bit of thinking (and a call to my dad), I realized that water had gotten into the distributor, and that it had turned into condensation as the engine heated up. That's why it started at the carwash and took me almost all the way home before it stalled. So, shouldn't be too hard to take off the distributor cap, dry it thorougly and put it back on again. Except for the fact that some Japanese bloke who put the car together back in 1993 had decided to screw the cap on instead of using a clip-on lid. :|
So there's me, on the road, with a screwdriver, trying to open the distributor cap, failing abysmally. Luckily, the landlord has a Toyota Land Cruiser, and he towed me the last bit up to the house. Then we set about fixing the engine. After moving the air filter system (which was obscuring the bit we needed to get to, of course), we managed to get to the distributor, get it open, and we left it to dry for a few hours.
I put the engine back together just now, and took the car for a drive. It works again. :-D Good thing, too, 'cause I really do need that car tomorrow.

VACATION!!! Yeah, i finaly got 2 weeks of. Really needed that. I have to go to school on the 13th of may. What is anoying is that people from work are taking more of my vacation time then i wish to have. In stead of the 16 hours a week, it'll be around 30 this time, so less time for joy. Also we got a holliday called Queensday. We celebrate a dead queen :| , that is kinda weird, but who am i to question the system :devious:

Be careful, they say around here that: "a drunk guy's ass has no owner".

I had a very nice party last Satuday, due one of our fellow's graduation. Really funny. Many of our friends slipped on the wet floor onto the ground in amusing and unusual positions. Of course, at the end of it we were already being dismissed by the local security guards :D just before started dancing the dreadful "Dança do Quadrado", to top the most stupid events that day. Fun, of course.

I'll have holidays until Monday, so we'll be hiring a mansion at the sea and fill it with drinks (I will mostly watch them) and other interesting talking stuff. Party during 2 days, then we'll move to a camp side Motel, for some fresh air, horse rides, pick-nicks and whatever else we might have to do there. :D

Just like here. If we stand outside too much, we might explode. It's hot, then it just rains - freezing rain. To top it all, I had an interesting night on last Friday.

There was this extratropical cyclone on the sea, sending wind and strong rain around here. Inexplicably, I got an upsurge of desire to go to the beach, at night, in the cold down pouring weather, by bus, taking few clothing and some food.

During the journey, I have found out why we were out of power, since a tree collapsed on the power lines. Not caring much about that, I kept going on. When I arrived at the beach, there was just me and the weather, that awe-inspiring horizontal rain. I settled myself at the top of a dune, to watch the revolving sea, the crowd of foam from the clashing waves, and the neverending wind, blowing around 100 km/h. I got in the shadowy part of the dune, so to protect myself from wind and rain, as well as the light, so I could not be bothered by any stupid person who happened to appear around. It was around 10 P.M.

When it was 0h30 of the next day, the cyclone was going away, the sky promptly got clean, and a chilly mist started rebounding from the sea, but I could get a nice view from the Milky-Way, when I fell flat on my back on the dune to stare at the sky. It was such a good feeling, although I was cold and rather hungry, I felt alive as I have long experienced. It cheered me up in that dismay weather.

After taking a nap, I seriously started shivering, because I was sopping wet and it was blowing a 5ºC wind which I'm not used to.

So, I left the place and walked to a northern beach, taking the road, because there are rocks blocking the way through the sands, so we had to make a detour journey of 5 or 6 km.

It was 4 A.M when I got at the other beach, the most famous in my city, called Praia Mole. I have never went there, though, until that night. So, having wild dogs as companions and walking in circles in a way that my footprints were covering 1/4 of the beach (which has around 3 km of extension), I was awaiting the sun to rise. Firstly, the moon came, almost completely concealed by it's own shadow - frankly, I almost got the wrong idea when it was going up the horizon...I watched (saw 3 meteorites burning at the atmosphere, around the same place) the sky changing it's colors, admiring it in a way I have never done.

A cloud was at the very horizon at the time, then the sun appeared from between some gaps, and that was a beautiful view. When the sun started appearing from above it, it was 7 A.M. and I watched the mountain next to me get golden with the sunlight, then it descended upon the sand and it got warmer and warmer.

So good feeling, you see. I hope I can share that to someone else next time. But, next time, I'll try going in a bright and warm night - I could have been hurt or worse.

Got a weird phone call just now. The manager of a food shop in the same supermarket chain as the one I normally work in, has staffing troubles, so he wondered if I could help them out tomorrow. I agreed, since I've got nothing better to do anyway, and since I could use the extra cash. It's still gonna be a bit weird, though, going to work in a different shop...
