Heroes Chronicles Overview

Unread postby Angelspit » 19 Jun 2007, 15:42

Our resident historian Marzhin wrote a detailed plot summary (with an introduction by rogue) for all eight chapters of Heroes Chronicles, the standalone Heroes III scenarios that were published by 3DO a couple of years ago. The long quest of Tarnum, the same character that was part of the Heroes of Might and Magic IV chaos campaign, begins in Warlords of the Wasteland:

"This story takes place before the foundation of the kingdom of Erathia. Once upon a time, the great barbarian King Jarg ruler over those lands. But then the Wizards of Bracaduun came and enslaved the barbarian people. Young Tarnum learns the long-lost history of his people from the last bards and decides to do anything to break the Wizards' rule. Becoming the new Barbarian King, he leads the clans against Bracaduun."

I bought and still have all of the chronicles, as well as the free downloads. I haven't tried to play any of these with Windows XP, hopefully they'll run should I decide to revisit these.

I rather liked them but few were actually good to tell the truth. The funny thing is that I learnt of the 2 downloadable games after I had finished H5 :D It wasn't too hard to find them but they weren't that good imo. I only remember I liked the imp that thought it was a barbarian :)
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Well I mentioned in jest that UBI might mirror the H3 sequence and release the Chronicles of HV. Who knows if HVI is delayed because UBI takes the time to find a company to make HVI that listens to its fans; then they may release a few to keep the cash flow going.

Thanks Marzhin, this will explain some stuff. I never was too clear on all the details of Tarnum's adventures.

Would be cool if they hired new story writers.

I wouldn't count on it, the whole point of HV was to make it less story (text) drivin to make it more accesable... :(

To Meandor and others:

Oh, the story writers are good, but Ubi's decision that everything requires to be made in cinematics screwed her up. Hiring new ones will change NOTHING.

To Angelspit:

Chaos campaign? I tought that was the Might campaign.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

now the question is.. how the Chronicles history ties with the M&M overall story (especially the story behind M&M6-8)?

I doubt that story writer was limited so much. On the other hand i completely agree that UBI should be blamed for huge limits or hiring bad writers.
