M&M X in 2007?

Unread postby Kalah » 04 Jan 2007, 02:29

With Fabrice hinting to some surprises being revealed this year, and with Jeff Spock saying he's working on a new game... who here believes M&M X will be announced for release 2007?

Voted: No. 3

Me thinks that Ubi will do another expansion for Heroes 5 and maybe one for DM in 2007, but Might & Magic X will just be announced to get everyone salivating. Then comes the months of hype and finally the game. Hopefully, it won't require a mega-computer to run.

Also voted number 3.

There's no way they're going to be slapping together an RPG in a year; even an unfinished, lousy RPG takes longer. I'd expect an announcement this year, though.

And maybe it will give me a chance to kill all the characters I've wanted to kill since I first played through the Heroes 5 Campaigns. :)

Well, an announcement doesn't necessary mean they just started to develop it - some games are announced only several months before the release, which means - the release of Might and Magic 10 in 2007 is possible. :) This year Ubisoft probably has planned to release two M&M games, while one (Heroes V expansion 2) is quite obvious, another might be Dark Messiah expansion but didn't Arkane Studios start to work on The Crossing? Without Arkane, what company could work on MM10?

I voted for 2007, more precisely - the Christmas.

Voted number 3.I doubt(and fear)that it will be released this year.It would be too soon, and sure to lead to patching eternal.

Meep. Wrong. MM9 was made in less than a year, IIRC. It's not exactly the high point of the series though...

Jeff Spock said the "fantasy game" he was working on was scheduled for a 2007 release, but it could be late, or something completely different.

I guess that's true -- if they import a graphics engine rather than making their own, it could be done in less than a year.

They’d almost certainly not do that. :( They’d miss out on the time to hype/advertise. If it were a Might and Magic based puzzle game, or something ridiculous like that HV casino game a while back, then maybe, but not MMX, not when there is a fan base waiting for it.

I guess they are planning 2007, but it'll be released in 2008.- Atleast I hope so... a 2007 release would ruin my last year in whatever you call the thing before University.- And I need good grades lol :D

I prefer to wait and see what happens, and not making wild guesses :)

I'm more concerened with the question: are they able to make a decent MMX, if and when they do decide to do so.

speculation leads to chaos and then dissapointment. Look at any forum involving super smash brothers brawl to see what I mean. Most posters are asking for characters that have a snowball's chance in hell of being put in.

I think they may anounce it this year with maybe a late/christmas release if they get it ready in time, next year if they don't, after the fuss over bugs in HoMM V and Dark Messiah, they might just take the time to make it right first time.
I take it all this speculation is based on hints that Fabrice made, and not just wishfull thinking :)

More on the hints the storywriters came with :D FC's post can mean pretty much anything, while the storywriter's post mean RPG of some kind... :D

It would be worrisome not to have any screenschots of the game 11 month before release ...

Voted option 3.
But there's no way Ubi will announce MMX shortly before it's release. For a game like that they'll be wanting the highest possible amount of hype.

I think there will be an announcement in 2007 but we might have to wait until 2009 for the finished product.

Don't think it will happen, although I hope against hope that there will be an announcement and in the slightest chance that the game does get developed that it is not a rush job and someone actually tests the game at least once! I reckon MMIX was practically NEVER tested by anyone.

The smartest move in my opinion would be no announcement, news, or information until 3-6 months before release. I think I can safely say that most of us would be quite rich if we had a $1 for every time an overly hyped game failed to satisfy.
I'd rather be part bull than a complete sheep.
