Need help on C2M5 in HoF

Unread postby Wulfstan8182 » 27 Nov 2007, 03:27

The title of this is self-explanatory. I've already tried to beat Lazlos 2 times and both of the times he beat me up very badly having half of his troops still on the battlefield and I was in my town with all the best towers and stuff... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, like building the wrong buildings at the wrong time or takin too much time on some of the things I should do quicker or not bother with them at all. Someone please tell me a good strategy on how to beat this mission. :(

P.S. I am playing the map on the easyest setting and i've already tried the guide but it is all on heroic difficulty.

Thanks. :)

What is your Wulfstan build man? I hope you have destructive magic? And are you going for the ultimate skill too?

Try to get the Grail building as soon as possible, if you are going to fight a normal battle with Laszo you will need the creature growth bonus the building gives you, and it is crucial.

For the building order everything is quite much needed but I personally would suggest you get the dragons quickly.

I myself played it on Heroic difficulty and engaged Laszo in a normal fight, not siege, and was able to beat him. The key is, get the grail building soon after the start...

And uh...if it still seems hopeless, then just place your Dragons and keep using Armageddon...your dragons are immune to it. This way you can also win the map, with like 9 Magma Dragons, just keep resurrecting or incorporeality rune(?) on Magma Dragons and watch the great army of Laszo die away. For this pirpose I think there was an artigact used to boos your fire spell dmg in the vicinity of your town(was it guarded by water elemental?) Anyway the map isn't really as hard as it seems after you know what's coming for you. I once had trouble with this map too.

Man good luck and I wish I helped with this reply...

i don't have ultimate cause picked the wrong thing for destructive but i have this stuff:
Expert Destructive with the Ignite
Expert Light
Expert Defence
Expert Logistics with snatch
Expert War Machines with ballista and runic machines going for triple

Should i worry about the neutrals guarding the resources or is it a waste of time and i should go for the grail right away?
And also, what bonus at the beginning should i pick?

EDIT: thx for the magma with armaggedon idea, i'll try that.

I would say go first for the grail because as long as you get that money you won't worry about your other resources any more, and plus the creature growth bonus is also awesome in that your 1 town could almost be producing as many units as AI's two towns. Your two heroes, yes Duncan included, are good to go to clear anything on the road and reach the obelisks quickly. You can look at the walkthrough for their whereabouts lol...

I forgot what the starting bonus was...sorry. Thought that wouldn't make very big defference...

And uh...I kinda suggest you not to use Dracogeddon methode in the battle against Laszo, cz it makes the game boring...of course because you have ignite they will die very quickly so you can enjoy the sheer power this methode brings to you, but doing a epic battle and winning is a classical way to enjoy this game (or later casting Vampirism on 900 Cyclops?)
