Dark Messiah Assassin Video

Unread postby Angelspit » 05 Jul 2006, 19:41

It's about time I mention the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic video featuring the assassin. It is interesting if you are a fan of series such as Thief and Deus Ex, which allowed you to use stealth to achieve your goals, but the Dark Messiah videos are starting to look all the same by now. There's really is a limit to the number of orcs you can watch getting killed before you get bored. In any case, you can meet the Assassin in the new Video page I set up, which includes links to other videos of the 3D action game.

A couple of new Heroes-related features are being finalized. The Sylvan strategy article is almost ready, and there's a column by a girl with shiny blue eyes coming soon. Don't go away.

If you would like to take a look at the original page visit this link:

I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

Orcs keep falling out of the sky. Too bad there aren't 2 different types of spellcasters.

Funny how thief still rules in the field of bow and arrow physics.

if i ever get the game, which is doubtful, i will deffinetly be a theif. it makes the game so much more interesting the moment it no longer is just hack and slash. and a thieff would naturally rule the field of bow and arrow since its silent, can kill from a distance, they never know its coming until aafter their dead, and if you raise an alarm you still have time to escape since you attack from a distance. its all the basics of a thief weapon.

TT-

yes, isnt it strange that wherever the game is, there always seems to be a bottomless cliff around, and always around those happens to be an orc standing perilously close and conviniently staring out at nothing at all without the slightest attencion at who might be trying to kill him? i find that pretty interesting...

and im pretty sure there is a cleric type spellcaster and a more wizardish type, isnt there?

I remember reading that the 'evolution' for sp has a 3-prong fork then a 2-prong one off each prong.

AKA : Mage -- preist\wizard

But i may be wrong so dont take my word for it.

You're refering to the sillyness that an arrow has enough momentum to push an orc off the platform and down the rift?

The Mage video is out, and is perhaps the most interesting so far. I'll add it here soon.

you should probably get them all on here, or at least links to them. and wasnt there another class besides mage, thief, and warrior? cause i thought ther was but you said mage was "final video".

GC- i doint think the arrow itself pushes them off the cliff, but just knocks them off balance enough to make them sort of stagger off the cliff. normally, considering they arent dead yet, it would make them step forward once to stop the fall, but in that situation they have nothing to step onto. also, it would deffinetly knock them forward enough to move their center of gravity closer toi the cliff, and if they are already dead then that alone should be able to make them fall off. considering how realistic this game is supposed to be, im sure the computer has got the physics right...

Classes are mostly for multiplayer, and I can't remember if their descriptions were made public yet. But from what I could gather, there are not really classes in single-player, as you are free to develop your character the way you want (might, magic, stealth, or any combination of these). That's why we saw only three "class" videos.

@GC
I'm pretty sure an arrow that can penetrate a leather armour can knock you down.

yes, but the arrow isnt a blunt object that would push another object back, but instead its velocity would take it into the body, only slightly pushing it forward.

Even a bullet fired from a gun cannot lift you and throw you away(just do the math,if a bullet is some 10 grams in wight, propelled for 900 m/s,it can push a person that has 100 kg about half 10 cm max,or without any math, the force that propelles the bullet out of the gun generates a counterforce on shooters hand, and that force, though it jerkes the hand a bit, doesnt send the shooter flying backwards),and an arrow has way less force then a bullet.

And you can't cut a guy in half by just swinging the sword at him. Exgeration: yes. Impossible: no.

Actually you can, with massive enough sword, sharp enough blade and strong enough swing.Example:Butcher cutting a piece of meat and a bone with a clever.

Sure, if he's a Kryptonian butcher.

And the way that orc fell the impact didn't need to be very powerful.

Now you are just being silly.Another example, the one youll believe more easilly,is an executioner cutting someones head off with an axe.

If the stumbled off the cliff then it would be ok,but the orc didnt stumble,he flew off the cliff.

Also, the arrows dont seem to be affected by gravity. But,this one cannot be completely seen in the video.Maybe they are,who knows.
