Wow, my guide is still here. It's really out of date now.

Necropolis Strategy

I talk about Destructive Magic right after Decay. @Charles I think the difference between us is that you try to capitalize on the Necromancer's strengths, while I try to make up for his deficiencies compared to the other heroes. I would usually prefer to have my natural bonuses + parity in the other...

Necropolis Strategy

Also, you've not covered Destruction Magic or Leadership... Leadership is worthless with an undead army, and I did cover Destruction Magic. Individual spells are kinda worthless to review, though, because they're all basically self-explanatory. i think he meant to put the word "peasants" ...

Here's a nice pic I have of an army right after a battle. I still had 800 or so archers but not many other troops left.

There's one mistake I made. Naadir's ghosts are not permanent.

it's not "that guy", there have been a couple of other fellows who agreed with me. Well, aren't we just 2 cool 4 skool. as far as the "shut up if you can't do better"-argument goes I don't recall making such an argument. Nobody asked you to write your own guide. instead of writi...

I'm not really sure what that guy's problem is. If he thinks what I wrote is entirely "take vlad, get skelly archers, use raise undead, go roxxor" then he has trouble reading. I gave a pretty clean synopsis of several spells and units that are important to Necromancer heroes, and what skil...

Nothing under the sun is original. I just didn't mean so trite and uninspired. Blizzard can do artwork, but they aren't particularly inventive. As for difficulty coming up with fantasy races, that's not really true at all. You should read some stuff by Mieville, or a couple other authors.

And yes, I am very aware that European armies did not have clerics, griffins, and angels wandering about the fields. But inquisitors, griffins, and angels are very European notions. A lot of people view medieval factions as predominately Anglo-Saxon, not as Moors and the such. Actually, typical med...

Not a complex game? I should've said, when it comes to heroes, there is, like I said in my first post, One Best Build. There just isn't really a lot of wiggle room. Like someone else said, there's lots of units and lots of spells, but there are very obvious top spells. What's the point of posting &...

I'm sorry, i don't think this is a real guide, as you're very limiting. "Take Vlad or Kaspar, max out Raise Dead, ggkthx". What's wrong with that? HoMMV is not a complex game. things well known already, but no strategy here =/ Well, as soon as this is supposed to be a thesis on strategy t...

I realized what you mean about priority, which is why I put in the stuff about what is really important (battle frenzy and necromancy). The only thing I really disagree with you on (besides taking randomized heroes. Some of them are pretty worthless and that's a game balance issue) is on taking 2 di...

My Necropolis Guide

I've been playing a lot lately, too. I've also been playing HOMM 3. One thing I have noticed about these games is there you don't do a whole lot. There aren't many major battles and the game takes such a long time to play. The major battles, between heroes that are within 5 or so levels of each othe...
