I just finished the first map of the PotSS and was able to successfully get to the next map so the solution was to not start with an old save prior to patching to 2.1. Thanks for the help!

Saved games prior to patch 2.1 are incompatible with SoD. You must start PotSS over again for it to work properly. I never played PotSS until after I had installed patch 2.1 so it's not an issue of an incompatible save game. It's treating PotSS as if it's the Dungeon Campaign; that's the problem.
