The Heroes Round Table

Sorry, I don't really grasp the concept of "mod". If I download this, does it mean I'll have new maps and some new towns to play or the whole game will change into this version?

I need some new maps to enjoy! I've played all of Corribus's and Scrowe's maps. Can anybody suggest a few? PS: The maps should have long and complex storyline, for I don't really like fighting epic battles. The heroes should start with 1 of a few creatures only to increase the strategy part HELP PLZ...
