Bah, yet again no e-mail notification. Well, I see you solved your problem meanwhile anyway. Strange, I haven't got antivirus warnings before, but now that I went to check those files again my antivirus is complaining about h3sndunfix.exe too. It has to be a false positive, I doubt the apatch tool I...

Thanks! Yes, there'll probably be no more updates. I don't think I can do anything else to improve this fix. I guess I could work on the old DirectShow fix and add support for non-mp3 music files for example, but that's rather pointless (you can always just convert to mp3) and it would become more o...

This is quite old, but I've been too lazy to post it earlier. :P The same type of fix that was applied to exe files is available as a single, direct fix to MSS32.DLL. Remove any previous sound fixes and just copy the fixed dll from the archive into the game's install directory (override the existing...

Done, it's up . Thank you for the update sir! :D The fix is working for me although I applied it over previous one. Thank you, Pol! Yes, the fix will install correctly even if you still have the old fix installed. You can remove the old fix afterwards too. Once the old fix is uninstalled, the game ...

I'm not sure if you refer to the sound fix that was made by me, but if you do, I recommend you to uninstall it and install the newer version that I've just released today. Here's a link to the topic for you: https://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8031 (I haven't updated the first po...

Long time since I last checked this place... I thought I had e-mail notification of replies enabled for this topic, but it either doesn't work or I'm doing something wrong. Anyway, I checked the fix under Windows 7 and it really doesn't work. It shouldn't work under Vista either. I've found out why ...

Well, I have no idea why your system refuses to find those dlls, but it doesn't matter anymore. I've finally found out which compile option to change to statically link these dependencies to my dll. In plain English, this means you should no longer need any of those extra dlls (except for the usual ...

Dependency walker told me, that you will need msvcp80.dll and msvcr80.dll, as outlined in "install visual c++ redistributable package" hint. Afterward files should be presented in windows/system directory. An excellent observation... I used Dependency Walker as well to determine which dll...

Oh my... I don't know how I didn't think of this earlier, but actually just doing a google search on the error code you gave in your first post (0xc01500002) gave plenty of results. It is now very likely that the problem is caused by a missing dll. If the redistributable package I posted previously ...

Well, I've tried the patch with the files you sent me, and it all works fine on my system. It must be some other difference between our systems that causes the problem. Since I developed the patch in Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, maybe installing this would help: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributab...

Sent you a PM.

Meanwhile, another experiment:
http://people.inf.elte.hu/narzoul/h3sndfix3.zip

It has no added code at all, everything is just redirected to mss32old.dll, so it should definitely work...

Since the error message is the same with an incorrectly renamed file, the problem must be somewhere with the loading of the old dll. Maybe you have a different version of that file, or the dll forwarding technique that I used doesn't work on your system for some reason... Anyway, I've uploaded a pac...

Strange... I don't think the problem is with the incorrect renaming, because that gives me a different error message (you could try it as well though, to see if it gives you a different error as well). Please provide me with the following information: - Operating system - Version of the game that yo...

I never put any instructions in either the old or the new zip file. Protecyon did that when I sent the first version to CH via e-mail - he just copied the important parts of the mail message into a text file, it seems. The new version didn't have any instructions included at first because it wasn't ...

Wonderful!

This'll probably be the last version then - unless, of course, someone reports a problem or would like to have something sound-related implemented. (For example, I could make it play more than just MP3 format music.)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure what you mean though... are you saying that the slowdowns are gone? If not, it's probably the slowness of DirectShow which is responsible. I'm afraid there's not much more I can do to help the situation, but still, let me know and I'll see what can be done. (I'v...

Affirmative , appears that it works on H3 Complete by 3DO. Just to the renaming the old dll, it must be exactly 'mss32old.dll' including the small caps, so caps sensitive... PS Good job! :-D Case sensitive? Err... actually, I had mine with mixed case ("MSS32old.DLL") and it worked fine. I...

Heroes III Sound Fix

Hmm... Protecyon forgot to mention that this fix also turns mono music playback into stereo. Also, the fix probably works with any versions of Heroes III, not just the Ubisoft Complete one. (Haven't tested.) Anyway, check this thread for details/updates: https://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewt...
