FYI, there was a fly spell in the early tile-based MM games too. They allowed you to fly from one map section to another. C3, D2, A1, etc. They also had skills such as mountaineer and pathfinding that allowed you to pass through mountain tiles and dense forest tiles. The PAX demo for example you cou...

MMX Q&A #1

There will indeed be an automap/mini-map. At PAX that was one of the things I asked julien. He said they just hadn't implemented it yet. And to Ryder, I didn't get a straight answer in regards to the trainers...but it sounded like they hadn't decided one way or the other. I agree that you should vis...

I voted for MM2 Gates to Another World. Unlike Ryder, I started with the first game, but leap in quality and depth from 1 to 2 was amazing. There were clearly 3 incarnations of MM games. 1-2 3-5 6-9 Each group was vastly different from the previous and each game was strikingly similar to the others ...

MMX in the Works?

Well, I'm cautiously optimistic. With the success of Skyrim, maybe game-makers will see that there IS still a market for a true RPG.

MM 1 is rather conspicuous in it's absence. Nice though. I lost some of my boxes to a flood unfortunately. Both Xeen's, Mandate & H2's.

The rest of my PC game collection is not even half of what's pictured here. So no, I don't have a ton of games...it's just that nearly everything I have is MM related. I'm kinda weird that way. Heya Ryder....played MM2 lately? :O) I'm in the mood for some goofy juice/power oil. Edited on Tue, Mar 01...

They're the only ones I didn't buy. Simply because they were designed to be a sort of "dumbed down" version of Heroes 3 for players just learning the series. I had access to the maps from the games so I never saw the point in pumping up 3DO's stock. NWC...yeah, I probably would've consider...

Yeah, I've got MM 1 and 2 for the Commodore 64 (3.5 floppies) but I didn't feel like digging them out of the attic. I also forgot to put in Clash of Heroes, Kings Bounty and something else I've forgotten. Oh well. Anything more is probably just overkill anyway. :O) Edited on Mon, Feb 28 2011, 10:51 ...

It was just a low-probability option. :) I suppose we are almost certain which is the 3rd Haven Elite now. Same goes with the Necro Champions :) The only real "surprise" we can get is from the last Inferno elite and yet, I'm still hoping for the Nightmares, but unless Tormentors are shoot...

For those wishing to dissect images, there are some new units unrevealed to this point in this picture. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs329.ash2/60905_152123891479020_151871054837637_356093_7073267_n.jpg 2 new flying units (one haven/one necro above each respective army) And some new g...

UbiSoft Online Controversy

Doesn't bother me in the least and certainly won't stop me from purchasing a game. If this is what the company thinks is in THEIR best interest...more power to them. In the end, it's THEIR game and THEIR intellectual property. And let's be honest here, just how many PC gamers out there DON'T have in...

Hehehe. Actually Ryder, I'm way ahead of you. I've been replaying it for the past couple of months on and off. My youngest daughter has shown an interest. She just loves the fly spell and swooping over the trees. :O)

Just now saw this today. And yeah, waaaaaay too easy. NWC Dungeon, Temple of Baa, Castle Ironfist from above the front castle wall. I think Ryder and I have played this game WAAAAAAY too many times. :O)

Eagle Eye

Personally, I always wanted Eagle Eye to function in a similar way to resistance in a way. Say the enemy hero casts fireball at you, Serena would then learn the spell (immediately...not AFTER the battle) and due to her close inspection of the spell she sees how to counteract the spell. From that poi...

Good Bye Nival?

While I was overall very happy with the AI's in both H2 and H3, the one in H1 was by far the best IMO. Yes, it was simpler and therefore easier to program, but it was still the most efficient and difficult to beat. Seriously, when was the last time any of you went back and played an expert & Ing...

Might and Magic nostalgia

You are unfortunately correct Jeff. The only way I'd even want Ubisoft to even consider a M&M RPG is if they brought in some NWC folks to lead the team. Mainly JVC or Mark Caldwell. With the right incentive...it's possible some NWC folk would come back. But only if the terms were right and they ...

Might and Magic nostalgia

Very nice article. Thanks. It's kind of funny because I've been playing M&M 2 for the past week so I'm completely immersed in that nostalgic feeling that he's talking about. Yes, the graphics of those old games are dated, but the game wasn't about eye candy like today's games are. They were extr...

Lord Haart...While not directly mentioned, Fortress Haart was in MM2. I'll have to go back and double check to see if they mention him specifically.

Nicely done Corlagon. Keep up the good work.
