The Heroes Round Table

I have a question about this scenario. Lord Fayette comes out of his castle and attacks me. I can't raise an army large enough to beat him. Also, instead of Gem, a random hero appears starting the scenario. When I choose the 30 Grand Elves as bonus, it doesn' give them to me? What should I do to win...
