It's this simple: The Fortress' native terrain is snow. Snow is not the native terrain of Inferno, Academy, Dungeon, Haven, Sylvan, or Necropolis. Therefore it is in the expansion with the fortress town. This is probably the best point in the whole thread. The reason snow existed in previous Heroes...

Ive finished BG2 around 25 times in total, with every combination of NPC i can think of. Brilliant game, and more replay value than you'd think.

Having said that, Planescape Torment is better. IMO, the best PC game, ever

By the way, if you're going to play BG2, DONT play it without the BG2 Fix Pack released by The Gibberlings 3. It fixes up some huge plotholes, enables some content that was cut but still included in the data files, and makes everything run a heck of a lot more smoothly :) http://www.gibberlings3.net...
