changing npc portraits in mm8.

i have been messing about trying to change an npc portrait in might and magic 8. i have saved the file as a TGA like all the others are, (i am using MM8 level editor). i have imported the file, replacing the one i want it to but when im ingame it is still showing the old portrait.

i am sorta a newbie at this, it's just something im playing around with, is there anything else i need to do?

Hmm, this should be an easy task. Also, you need to save the file as a bitmap. Here is a simple walkthrough on how to do this:

-First things first, export the original NPC file from MM8lvl editor.
-Note that the file you exported has the .tga file extension, but that it is really an 8-bit bitmap image. As an example: In reality, the file you just exported is NPC742.tga.bmp.
-When you import your new file back into the icons.lod file, it needs to be the exact name of the file you exported originally. So as an example, your file name needs to be NPC742.tga for the example above. This file also needs to be an 8-bit bitmap image.
