Kings Bounty, two questions.

Unread postby Macros the Black » 18 Dec 2008, 19:55

1. Does anyone know of a mod that adds auto-resolve or just makes weaker enemies ignore you or something?
2. Where the heck is the game.ini file? I can't find it. I found on some site that I can just change something in the game.ini file and it will show the amount of units dieing instead of the amount of damage being done, but I can't find the file. Maybe because I used the "put files in game map instead of C" choice upon installation, but the game.ini is unfindable even with Search.

For question 2, you can see it in the messagetap...

Yeah, but the letters are too small for me to read without getting a headache... And it´s just inconvenient :P

The game is alot more fun if you're playing a mage, I noticed.. A good fireball or two easily takes care of those meaningless battles :D

I play as a Paladin, and it's a great mix between knight and mage. SO awesome!

Well, I was playing the Paladin first, but it was so boring getting through the first part of the game with only healing magic and no really powerful troops. Not really my playing style in a game with no auto-resolve :P

IIRC there is a hotkey which switch damage and number of death units. Unfortunately I don't remember which one but try hit ALT or CTRL.

This is what I found.

I went to program files/atari/kb/data

in the data folder there are 3 .cfg files. game.cfg has this line:

setf ~showflyingdead 1

I must have changed it from 0 to 1, it shows creatures killed instead of damage numbers.

Got it now, thanks. Avonu's suggestion also helped, as by clicking some buttons all of a sudden I can now see a healthbar on units, and I noticed if I toggle alt it makes it so that you don't have to hold the right mouse button to see the enemy's movement paths (which was annoying, as when holding the right mouse button on a unit his information thingy also comes up, and you have to drag around the screen to see what you want from the movement paths..).
The game is alot more playable now, haha! Some small innovations in the combat info part compared to HoMM are really useful. Now if only there was a way to avoid those unimportant battles...

Increase the difficulty. :D

I used a warrior by the way. Quite fun. Insane rage 'spells' with some magic support.

I have married the elven biatch. Asked the Tree of Life for permission of us having a baby, 20 like battles later - no sign no bone from the little bugger. Is this a bug or did I did something wrong? It pisses me of, cuz the dwarven "chick" gave me really cool bonuses (like +10% XP from battles) and now I have like... nothing. I don't even use elven army, their troops sucks monkey balls (Red Dragons + Invisibility FTW!), even though I have the full Elven bla-bla set.

I carried on :baby:

So, does anyone else married that bimba and did that baby problem appeared with him as well?

Yes, the elf-queen failure is a known bug. I thought artifacts were better than babies?

Anyway there are patches for all the versions now that fix this. Check the kings bounty homepage.

Well, depends of the bonuses - +10% experience, +20% Defense, +10% mana and +10% to Leadership are a tough one... of course, it depends on the luck (or woman, I am not exactly sure...).

Thanks for the info, though, will check it there :)

Anyone have an idea about that Necromancers lost town? Is it "available" to reach somewhere on the maps and where should I go to find someone who can translate these scripts?

Yeah, I am playing for a second time and am trying to be a bit more careful with the reading  It's not a quest that goes to your quest log (yet), but the mages near the capital are searching for someone to translate the scroll you get from the cemetery (that Old Chavka quest). I even managed to get into the pyramid and grab the King Fandor map, but its only use is to sell it here and there.
