wow! that's a lot of pics! anyway i'm off topic.
huh? i don't get it. first, you're in an isometric 2D world, then you teleport your 3D hero into H3 then, you are in a 3D H3 battles. they sure mixed H3 H4 and H5 which are good by themselves (not H4) which are unmixable in a mmorpg. plus, they added the stupid "swamp" faction to the game from H3 and made it look like retarded H4 graphics which made it look totally horrible. then, they make the battle screen which is identical to H3 with the dumb hexagons(or whatever they are, i'm not really into geometry) which were improved in H4. the make a vampire look like a waiter in your local restaurant and they swap the wight and the death knight. but the most horrible of all. they import pics from H3 H4 H5 for buttons and iconsand everything else which makes it look like a bunch of pics put together. that's what happens when Ubi tells Nival to go *beep* and make a contract with some dumb TQ which barely know about HoMM.
i know it looks like a major review of a game but i'm just expressing my feelings. anyway, thanks for the pics, it really helped me decide not to play HoMMonline.

What a desecration of the HoMaM series.....
someone mixed Heroes 5 artworks, spellbook from Heroes 3, isometric Diablo-like game, HoMaM combat system and so on to produce this......"something I can't even name, because all reproachful words I know aren't sufficient for this"

Yes why does all the 2D art look wonderful, but once you get to the 3D battle screen, it looks like a giant step backwards? Is it because they have to sacrifice quality to make it MMO? But there are plenty of online games that are much more graphics intensive (real time games) but look much better. Nival's 3D looks sooooooooo much better.
Looks like Ubi's found a new dev house that's got a lot of 2D artists, but no good 3D programmers.
And... everything looks manga-ized. Not too badly, but there are conceptual inconsistencies.

Just to clarify the development model, I don't think Ubi has much to do with this game.
For H5, Nival is the developer, and works directly at the request of Ubisoft, the producer. But for this MMO, TQ Digital do the developing and producing themselves: they bought the right to do so for the asian market. This explains why they took some liberties with mixing H3, H4 and H5 styles, which I think Ubi would never have done.
Consequently, it also tells nothing about the Ubi-Nival partnership, and makes it more likely that this MMO only targets the asian market.

Well, that appears to be an intention beyond from the start.sfidanza wrote:Consequently, it also tells nothing about the Ubi-Nival partnership, and makes it more likely that this MMO only targets the asian market.

It looks to me like you would play the adventure map in real time, your one hero running around between towns. Then when you fight, you go into turn-based combat (or maybe like 30 secs limit per turn) with your army.
And when you go into a town, it's not a town screen but a big town to run around in?

I know only one word, how to call it, and that's "splendid".
And I bet, that because it will be popular, here inevitable come mods, like the one unnamed for WoW...

Because 2D tends to look better for less... but yeah the 3D is pretty basic... but it's China, they prob want to allow people that got their computer 3rd hand to be able to play it.Mlai wrote:Yes why does all the 2D art look wonderful, but once you get to the 3D battle screen, it looks like a giant step backwards?
