Jane Austin....
Our English teacher forced us to read Jane Eyre last year.
I never found the courage/Stupidity/Longing-For-Death-Feeling to do so.

Read Battle Angel Alita
(manga comix)
Rating: Good
*It's about a cybergirl, again. And it's indeed havinga story which you must fold up a little. Just enough to make you think it over.

Undoubtedly. but the question is, is it any good even there? All I can remember of it is that Dante met a lot of souls and angels that were glowing so brightly he couldn't look at them. It was boring the first time, and repeating it didn't help.Kalah wrote:I'm on the "Paradiso" part of Dante's Divine Comedy. It's an English translation, and it's probably better in the original vulgare Italian.

I'm currently reading The Design of Everyday Things. The basic premise is it's the designer's fault if you can't figure out how to use something. Maybe we're not such klutzes after all.
Next up is Being Geek by Michael Lopp, aka "Rands."

Making it moron-usable is the holy grail of design, but they're still morons, designed for them or not.Kristo wrote:The basic premise is it's the designer's fault if you can't figure out how to use something. Maybe we're not such klutzes after all.
UI should be as simple as it can be without sacrificing usability.

I just finished Terry Pratchet's Guards! and am in the middle of a friend's novel. (he's actually pretty good!) Also recently finished "The Female Brain" and "The Male Brain" by Dr. Louann Brizendine.
About UI - it's really hard to get right and lots of times gets stuffed to the background. Or isn't tested by a wide variety of people. UI requires tons of iterations (I've seen over 20 versions on some products) to get it right, so if you don't take the time early on it turns out disastrous later.
