I have a theory that interprets the situation differently.
My humble opinion is that with Alkin,'s special, you will get a few points of defense for your gorgon, but that is going to be a smaller difference compared to Tazar's special, even for the Gorgon stack. And then Tazar's special helps all your other stacks too. Alkin does have offense and the special does give a few more points of Attack, and 1 speed, but the Mighty Gorgon's special does its job irrespective of your Attack rating anyway. I just need to hope Tazar can pick up Offense (and Resistance).
In fact, more defense would keep your Mighty Gorgon stack count higher which is what keeps the death stare kill count higher.
And then, there's the beginning of the game where you'll have to fight a lot of battles before your Gorgons are legion and Mighty.
So if we were talking about another unit, comparing the specialist with an armorer specialist usually means you lose a lot of damage dealing with the armorer specialist, but not so much in the case of mighty Gorgons, or maybe even reversed. But my theory is not very well tested so I could well be completely wrong.
But obviously, I'm saying I'm voting for Tazar cos I think he does a better job

It's really uneasy choise here - between Tazar, Bron and Alkin.
Mighty Gorgon speed +1 is just fine, they're a little bit slowly units. But just +1 does not fix this enough. Other benefits are cool, but not so unique - for example, you can pick up Offense with another hero also.
So it's Bron or Tazar.
I'll say, that decision depends on the map size. If it's S or M - Bron is just perfect. Having several basilisks (up to 7 beasts!) from first day is awesome.
On large maps it's defenitely mr. War-Paint-On-My-Face You-Cant-Kill-Me
One of my favorite heroes in all game.

Of course it's going to be Tazar. Creature specialists are just so crap. We had a thread a while ago which came to conclusion that the creature special doesn't increase attack and defense skills for each level attained, but one or the other in seemingly random fashion. Then if the other guy has something like blind or slow, you're pretty much owned.
