Oh damn, so i'm gonna have to reinstall the whole thing, hopefully it works afterwards!
Trevan wrote: The ATB bar is updated as soon as you give orders to the current unit. While it doesn't tell how much damage or kills you do instantly, it does update immediately when a stack dies. After playing 1.1 for a while, it seems...weird. It's actually very disorienting.

The battle camera seems to mess up. Everytime it zooms in for a melee exchange, it's focused slightly behind the defending creature.

Yep, noticed that too..... was quite confused after lookung at the "new" ATB bar....

...i'm not happy with the patch :tired:

Ctrl Attack works with blood furies. Basically you can attack and then stand next to them. I think the AI is messing up by choosing that option though.
Cool. Just had them as opponents, so good choice of words saying 'possible' bug. :-)

Anybody else's setting default every single time they restart the game? I have to change battle speed, movement speed, camera, everything.

I think it's safe to say that, unless you want compatibility for online play, you shouldn't download this patch.

So far, the patch has proved quite stable. I have not had a crash since I installed the patch where before on larger maps I occasionally crashed.

I like how they provided a couple new maps, I'm having fun with war of the worlds.

The initiative bar was messed up on release, worked fine with 1.1, and is now messed up again with 1.2 but it still functions.

The elementals are nerfed but I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

I prefer the old icon to the unicorn but hey you can't win them all. I wish the emerald dragon were the color of the initiative bar icon as it is now in 1.2.

Anyway my point is that it is worth installing the patch even if you don't play multiplayer which I do not.

A couple, indeed :D
An orgy of maps wouldn't had hurt either.

By the way, does anyone knows when we get the other map couple via email?

Yeah but you know what? They've already said we are going to get more...If we got some what reason do you have to believe we won't get more? They said we'll get a map editor, I have no reason not to believe them based on current evidence...and we all know that will lead to more maps.

Besides I was the victim of false advertising about Heroes III (a couple weeks ago)...I read that there are hundreds of maps and then I open up the game and practically every map has the exact same map in team play as a whole second map.

Oh yes the editor.
I'm cautiously eying every bit of news that came along mentioning the editor...
....and after my experiences with the craftmanship of the 1.2 patch...

...i WILL agree with you... but not until the editor lies on my harddisk and i clicked the
"create new map" button for the first time.... no single second sooner!

I guess I'm the only one whose patch didn't seem to work for them. I tried the autoupdated but it bombed out claiming the H5 game.exe file was locked. When I aborted the install and tried again the autoupdater said nothing to install.

Now my main app doesn't work :(

I'll tray 1.2 manually but it's looking more like uninstall + reinstall for me.

EDIT: Installing V 1.2 manually seems to have fixed my problems for now. ... hmm this is the first time ever that I've had a game's autoinstaller ever fail.

After CIV 4 i never ever use an autoupdate function again.... had to reinstall 5 or 6 times cause the thing wasn't able either downloading the patch or executing it properly!
Until then.... always doin' it myself.... and so i get patch backups to store somewhere too!

When in battle, you can right click a unit on the ATB Bar a lot, causing the "Creature Info" screen to pop up.

Is this new? Or was I just blind to this fact in the previous patches? I think it's new...

Did you get H3 complete? Then you should have about 120 stand-alone maps, and 20 campaigns with a total of around 100 maps.

The team play versions of some maps were actually added in a patch for H3 (I want to say the 1.1 patch, but I'm not certain). The original release didn't have them.

Each of the 3 releases had about 30-40 stand-alone maps (that's where I got the 120 total above).
Of course, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of maps downloadable for H3 also!

You could get creature info from the ATB bar all along.

Yes I got H 3 complete but the ubisoft version (quite cheap). I'm just making a point about how advertising is never as it seems. For example, on the ubisoft forum there are people complaining that a map editor was promised on the box, but on my H V box there is no such promise. Must be a different country, and technically there will be one.

In my experience with H II the user made maps are far inferior to the original from H II and expansions, nevertheless, after I familiarize myself with H III more I will investigate the user maps...there's only so much time to play after all and I'm already dividing my time between H III and H V. And at some point down the road I'll try equilibrus....it's a good time to be a heroes fan.

It's different than before though. If you right click on it *a lot*, it pulls up the screen where you have the model of the unit and the description, like you get on the adventure map. It also lists the abilities with detailed descriptions, even to the point of saying "Live: It can be resurrected" or something like that. Mage and Archmage seem to be a little messed up though as it says "Acid Breath etc. etc." for them :)

Caught me off guard. I was in a duel game with my brother and when that pulled up I panicked and thought it quit or something. Well, at least now you can see what the abilities do.

So....new feature:

Creature information screen (Where it has a description of what the creature is) now has detailed information about the creature's abilities.

It can also be pulled up from the ATB bar by right clicking a lot.
