I believe Max is the only active Equilibris member/person working on the HD mod. Dalai have been missing for quite a long time. I've tried to help Max out with some graphical matters occasionally, but communication between us has been quiet for months. Also I know Max has had periods of less activety and from what I could gather from the Russian forum, there's been some issues implementing the new extended town screens.Pol wrote:Dalai si disappeared but there are others, most importantly Max.
Keeping an eye on the russian forum is the best channel for keeping up date on any progress..

It's rather sad when people disappear from digital places, specially when we do not have any other means of communication. Reasons can be either good or bad. And we just can hope they are not bad.

Indeed. I read somewhere he was going to Europe, though it's been years now and we do have both internet and public access even if he wouldn't be able to continue work himself. But I understand noone has heard from him during that period.

I have a few suggestions for the town interface that I haven't seen yet. It is probably too late for them, but maybe I am being too optimistic (or pessimistic, depending how you look at it).
1) Something the could be placed in the empty space on the left is interactive help. When the user hovers the mouse over an interactive element, like a structure or an interface element, there would be a description of it. That could be useful for beginners.
2) The interface could be redesigned and placed on the right side of the screen in stead of at the bottom. That would require more work on the interface, but less on the town landscape, as its aspect ration would approximately be preserved.
3) Perhaps in paralel to the final solution a temporariry solution could be implemented, one that requires little work and is easy to do, and release that in the mean time. I suspect just keeping the original town window and put a background behind it would fit the bill.

1) I think that would be hard to add as it would likeky require some hardcoding, also you can access structure info by right clicking any building if I'm not mistaken. 2) Could perhaps work, but the landscapes are already expanded, so..
3) basically only Max from the Equi team know the current status and what shortcuts can be made, but if you want to share these suggestions you should sign up on the russian forum or I can post your suggestions there, where they're more likely to be read (and answered)

Yeah.. it's such a shame they didn't release a alpha/beta version for people to play around with and instead tried to get it perfect only to possibly never finish it at all.
Judging by the start of the thread (I know the stuff later in the thread were just mockups) they had the game working just fine in 1080p HD, it was just that certain screens back backgrounds that didn't fit. They've even already put in some workarounds to fill some gaps. Either way I'm sure plenty of us would tolerate little graphical glitches like that if it meant we could play the game in HD. Better than nothing! Does anyone have a way to message the devs and ask them just to release what they got done for the community?
As someone who's a perfectionist and behind in so many projects because I'm determined to release them in a perfect state I understand the difficulty in doing that haha. However sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and accept that if you can let years go by without touching a project then perhaps it's best to let it go and just release it. Because everyone will know it's not finished you won't have to worry about noobs saying "your work sucks bro it's all glitchy blah blah" lol.
Source files on github would be even better, as maybe someone else might take it up.

Unfortunately there is no "they," just Max_HMMI has been working on it, and he is rarely around. I guess life happens is what's caused the project to slow to a halt. Feel free to head over to the Equilibris forums and send him a message though!
